Planet Earth stands as an extremely beautiful place where all the living things depend on each other and live together. Humans are deemed the most thoughtful and clever living things on Earth. However, we occasionally become very callous to creatures who cannot express themselves to our understanding.
Therefore, our topic of discussion this week from this amazing community about our love for animals is "Steem, Say no to animal abuse" to discuss the cruel acts we carry out on animals. Don't miss it for anything, as I present my based on the provided questions of the topic below.
What does the expression "Don't disturb our habitat" mean? |

Before we swing into the question proper, what is a Habit? Don't you think we need to know that before we get to know if we disturb it or not? We need to know right? Better!
A Habitat is any place where a living organism dwells or makes its home. That is to say where we live and everything that surrounds it (the environment), is our habitat.
But then, what does it mean to disturb? To disturb is said to be causing a change in conditions of a place or thing that impedes or interferes with the normal functioning of the place or thing.
Therefore, "Don't disturb our Habitat" means that one should not cause a change in conditions or interfere with our place of home or environment. A “disturbed habitat” means a change in environmental conditions, which can cause a change in the ecosystem of its habitat.

Animal abuse is defined as inflicting bodily pain, agony, or demise on any animal, usually a tamed one, beyond conditions for discipline. Animals, like humans, deserve a friendly life as they play a vital part in our ecosystem and are very helpful to us. We forget that they are also living creatures and harass them because they can't express their sentiments and grief.

By the above definition, I see a lot of animals being abused around us as these abuses include neglecting them, torturing them, arranged abuse (such as dogfighting and cockfighting), and animal sexual abuse. The most common is neglecting them such as not giving them adequate food and water, explaining why we see a lot of animals roam the streets in search of food.

Animal abuse is a noteworthy issue in Nigeria with numerous cases going unreported and unpunished. However, there is a provision in the country's Criminal Code that deals with various forms of brutality against animals.

Section 450 of the Nigeria Criminal Code of Nigeria as shown above reads that;
"Any person who wilfully and unlawfully kills maims, or wounds, any animal capable of being stolen, is guilty of an offence.
It also reads that offenders of this law are guilty of a felony and are liable to imprisonment for seven years if the crime is against animals like horses, mares, geldings, ass, mules, camels, bulls, cows, ox, goats, pigs, ram, wether, or ostrich, or the young of any such animal.
Whereas, in cases of animals not mentioned above, the offender is guilty of a misdemeanour and is liable to imprisonment for two years.
Also, Chapter 50, of the Nigeria Criminal Code Act is fully dedicated to Animal abuse as Section 495 (1990) prohibits acts of cruelty to animals.

However, just as I said earlier, even with all these laws, little or nothing is done becuase there's barely any education and awareness of these laws, as most citizens don't even know them.
If you had to come up with a slogan to stop animal abuse, what would it be? |

It would be, "If you care for lives, care for Animals". This is because not only do these animals have life, but they also give birth to offspring and also serve as a means of livelihood for mankind.
Even before man ever existed, there were animals on the planet Earth, however, our lack of ability to care for these animals has thrown some of them into extinction. Animals like dinosaurs, mammoths, and medallions, down to a variety of birds are bygone, and generations to come might not even get to hear about them not to talk of knowing them. Then, other animals like pandas, tigers, lions, and elephants are in danger of going extinct.
Therefore, caring for animals is as good as caring for the lives of the animals involved, the lives of generations to come, and the ecosystem at large.

Negara anda benar-benar sangat peduli dan menerapkan regulasi yang kuat untuk perlindungan binatang. Negara saya indonesia juga menerapkan sejumlah regulasi yang serupa untuk itu. Saya pikir binatang memang harus dilindungi dan dengan regulasi yang kuat seperti itu diharapkan dapat meminimalisir tindak kekerasan pada binatang ke depannya. Sukses selalu pak 👍🏻
