RABBITS AND PREGNANCY

Today I decided to share with this community another exciting photograph I took years back. As I said earlier I have been an animal lover right from the end of my secondary school education, I began to rear rabbits at a tender age and my love for this wonderful creature has led to the discovery of facts about them which are stated below.

The pictures above are my rabbit picture, the picture of a mother(doe) and her young ones which are also known as litters, My does is a very productive mother as she has always been giving birth from number eight(8) and above after her first delivery of a litter which comprises of 6 bunnies.

Let me tell you a few things about the pregnancy of a doe(female rabbit), A doe gets pregnant once she mates with a buck(male rabbit), she doesn't necessarily need to be on heat before pregnancy, once your doe is free(without bunnies; kids) and you want her to get her pregnant you take it into the hutch of the buck_More about this will be discussed in our next session. Doe's gestation period is 30-31 days or you can say 1 month.

During the gestation period, you find your doe acting in an obsessive manner, something like scratching the hutch from time to time, getting angry when touched, and being resistant to another buck mating it; these signs show that your does is pregnant.
The whitish thing you see there is known as fur(rabbit hair). At the point of delivery, before delivery, or after delivery rabbits pull out their fur(hairs) to protect their young ones from cold, insects and to keep them dry during defecation.
