Animals Photography || Rhombodera extensicollis
On a beautiful morning, precisely on the banks of the Krueng Tuan River, a praying mantis or scientifically called Rhombodera extensicollis source: Wikipedia was detected moving looking for prey.
This animal is often called cangcorang in Javanese and several other regions. This animal has a unique physical shape and has a dominant leaf green color. Another uniqueness of this animal is that it can turn its head easily.
What I like most about this animal is its habit which always looks like it is praying with both hands in worship.
At that time I was hunting small animals and insects using a cellphone camera and macro lens. Of the many animals I found in the small forest on the banks of the Krueng Tuan River, this praying mantis is one of the tameest insects and easy for me to photograph.
But don't try to take pictures too close, this animal will feel threatened and disturbed.
This animal also has the advantage of high-level camouflage. This allows the praying mantis to stay safe from predators who want to prey on it. Some types of birds make animals their main prey.
Praying mantises will look aggressive when hunting prey such as several types of insects and other small animals. However, in some cases, praying mantises are able to prey on animals that are larger in size.
If you meet this animal, do not try to touch it because this animal has a painful bite and will cause minor injuries.
See you in the world of other animal photography.
