Introduction
Livestocks are domestic animals kept by man for money making or source of food. Example of livestocks are cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, horses, donkeys, chicken, rabbit etc. Some of these livestocks serves as pets.

Do you have any livestock at home? Tell about them.

Yes, i have livestock at home. I rear local chickens, noiler and a goat. The idea of rearing this livestock was conceived by my wife and I key into it. Today we have about 20 chickens. It's fun to have this livestock around us. Once it's morning, they gather around the door post waiting for me or any other family member to feed them. These chickens will follow you everywhere around the compound if nothing is given to them. Similarly, anytime they are hungry during the day time, they gather around the door post anticipating to be fade or follow you around as they do in the morning. I observe that they are greedy sometimes. They struggle and peck each other when they are been fade.
The annoying aspect of keeping these livestocks (chikens) is how they litter the environment with their faeces. Sometimes you have to sweep the compound severally to keep it tidy.

What benefits do livestock and birds give us?

For me, there are three benefits gotten from livestock and birds.

  1. Source of protein (food): We eat the chickens and other livestock as meat which serves as a source of protein for the body.
  2. Source of income: The livestock can be sold in exchange for money to help us attend to other needs.
  3. Pets: Some of these livestock serve as pets. In my house, for instance, there is a goat and we call it Sarah. Whenever you shout the name "Sarah", the goat comes around and when you are eating, the goat will also want to eat with you on the same plate.

Cattle rearing provides wealth to the family. Express your opinion.

I agree with the submission that cattle rearing provides wealth to the family. I don't have one but my interaction with others points to that fact. Today in Nigeria, a cow can cost 500,000 naira and above. This amount is more than the annual salary of some civil servant in the country. If a farmer have five to twenty cows. He/she is already a millionaire. I know people who buy cows every January and sell them in December during Christmas and new year celebrations and their testimonies were awesome.
Cattle rearing may be tasking since land is needed, security is needed, source of water and food. But, the output is good. If i have land and i am able to raise capital, i will love to venture in to cattle rearing.

Thank you for reading this content God bless you

I invite @vickyson, @josepha @ruthjoe to also participate in this contest.
