SEC - S18W4 : Animal Welfare

Today, I want to discuss a topic that has the utmost significance to us: Animal welfare. Wild animals are useful creatures living in our environment, they do not speak but ensure that all is well with our globe. As much as they are useful, our societies never appreciate these animals and indeed use them without any limits as we take care of many human needs. Needless to say, it is about time we underline their importance and start asking for their welfare with the main message being that they too are living beings and their lives count as much as our own.

Animal exploitation by people for clothing, films and products exploited for the self-pleasure of humans shows disrespect for animals. This list of the worst practices in the treatment of animals encompasses fur farming which has negative impacts on animals’ lives, forcing animals to perform and product testing for the aims of the scientific experiments to be morally unjustified. All these are cruel and unjustifiable acts. Regarding these actions, I entirely disagree and urge that there must be better ways that people can take that do not involve the use of animals. Today, there are a lot of high-tech and fashionable commissions and products that are available and absolutely halal without involving any kind of animal cruelty. Firstly, negatives could be minimized if we are all careful about choosing products that were tested on animals or if we use fewer animal products that have been tested on thus making animals be valued instead of being treated cruelly for human gains.

Importing and using animal products such as leather, fur and ivory in everyday lives presents similar concerns in ethical considerations. Such materials may originate from practice that entails unethical treatment of animals including advocating for their suffering and this results to their death. I think that the use of these products should be stopped and I consider that it is unnecessary to continue with this action since there are more sensible products in the market. The replacement of genuine animal skin by synthetic or plant material is a step forward to ending this inhumanity we offer the animals. Accepting these alternatives is beneficial because it is not only about saving animal lives and making humanity more caring about the clothing and other products they use, but also about avoiding harm to animals as much as it is possible.

It is also important to note that every individual has the power unto him or herself in defending the rights of animals from being exploited. A first step toward desensitization could be enabling the public to learn about the variety of ways animals are exploited and the effects of those actions. These are measures that can be taken as knowledge-based decisions, for example, deciding against using animal-tested products or purchasing from legitimate brands. Also, the promotion of enhanced laws or provisions regarding animal welfare can contribute to reform. Avoiding animal products altogether or at the very least, limiting their consumption through embracing a vegetarian and particularly vegan-like diet goes a long way in ensuring that the demand for animal products is reduced. It can also be beneficial to provide time and resources like food and money to these animal welfare organizations and share information about them. Lastly, human education which aims at ensuring that children and other people in the community respect animals, teaches that animals too deserve to be treated well. From all these assemblies in unison, people will be able to work on molding a better world for animals with tolerance and acceptable ethical standards.

In conclusion, animal use for human benefits is prejudice which should not be overlooked in society. I personally remain committed to the principles of safety and protection of all inhabitants of this particular world. In this way, avoiding the acquisition of animal goods and fighting for their health and well-being can help make the world better for future generations. To achieve this noble goal of ensuring that animals are not being used in entertainment, all the advocates of animal rights must join forces and ensure that we pass the message across in as many places as is possible. Altogether, we shall achieve tremendously much to enhance the culture that embraces the rights of all voices bounding in the entire universe.
