Cloudpunk Brings Futuristic Cyberpunk Delivery Home
Most games that cover a cyberpunk future focus on shooting or death of some kind and that is fine. Cloudpunk by ION LANDS is taking a different approach to the world of the future. You are tasked with being a delivery driver. Think Korben Dallas from The Fifth Element before Leeloo changes his destiny forever. Mix in a substantial amount of illegal activities like you might see in the Grand Theft Auto franchise but rip out the hijacking and gunplay. What you get is Cloudpunk.
Cyberpunk looking fine
The future depicted in a dingy criminal infested way has been around for years. It is an easy setting to use, almost as easy as “a long time ago” fantasy adventures. Cloudpunk bucks the trend in a rather upfront way.
We get a more Demolition Man looking future rather than something akin to what we saw in Bladerunner. Things are clean but dark, maybe because you are participating in the illegal trade market it becomes easier to see darkness than it is light.
Check out the gameplay video above. This is a fully realized game world like other titles in this genre. Imagine Crazy Taxi with a world this big and open, and vertical.
The future is up
One thing that is clear in Cloudpunk is that going up is the way of the future. Again, something explored a little bit in the 5th Element movie as Dallas was evading cops.
Here you will have to rely on some fancy footwork as you traverse the land completing and starting your delivery. You will use your vehicle to move around the city evading traffic while trying to complete your missions.
Excitement already building for Cloudpunk
According to ION LANDS Cloudpunk has been added to over 95,000 Steam Wishlists. That is awesome and shows there is a market for cyberpunk games that don’t prominently feature murder and death.
