Alex Batalia from Digital Foundry was extremely disappointed with the quality of Resident Evil Village on PC, noting that the developers need to carry out additional polishing of the computer version of horror.
It all starts with the main menu, where the options in the graphics settings can only be scrolled with the mouse wheel — this is slow and extremely inconvenient. What's funnier, when you connect the gamepad, navigation is noticeably faster. Moreover, the ESC button cannot be used to exit backwards — only the right mouse button. But this is more of a minor quibble.
Then they start more seriously: the implementation of Variable Rate Shading, when the quality of objects in dark places is reduced to improve performance, leaves much to be desired. The decrease in quality is noticeable even on the general plans on well-lit sections.

With ray tracing, the situation is better, but there is something to complain about — even at the highest settings, the reflection graphics work in a quarter of the original resolution without the ability to improve their quality.
In addition, when you turn on retrace in some scenes, the lighting causes artifacts — this is also true for consoles.
Another problem was anti — aliasing-on consoles, it works more efficiently even with staggered rendering (which can also be enabled on a PC). With an honest 4K on PC, the new-generation console version looks worse because of the abundant artifacts — especially in the shadows.

Batalia also noted performance problems when enabling ray tracing — in certain scenes, when changing the location, the game may hang, and when the daughters of Dimitrescu, or more precisely their flies, appear, the frame rate may decrease by about half.
If you compare the performance of the game with the Xbox Series X, it seems that the console shows itself about on par with the RTX 2070 Super.

Although DF was disappointed with the computer version of Resident Evil Village, the PC players themselves — many of whom are unlikely to include ray tracing, with which the game has major problems — met the novelty extremely warmly. Steam has about 95% positive reviews.
