Mario Kart Tour - A Disappointment for Many Players

in Steem Gaming4 years ago

When Smartphones came on the market many developers would be interested in making games for these platforms because of how easy it was to program them and they could cover any type of player, turning their game into an entertainment center for many people.

As the years went by, videogames for mobile devices gained an incredible fame, the different development companies saw a gold mine due to the amount of people downloading contents related to videogames for their Smartphones.

Thus were born games like Candy Crush which are full of micro transactions, making them what we know as "pay to win" a term that has become popular in recent years, since most games for these devices are plagued with purchases.

Nintendo, a very jealous company with its franchises, fell into the temptation of micro transactions, launching several titles for Smartphones, giving birth to Mario Kart Tour, considered by many one of the worst deliveries of the legendary plumber's Kart universe.

Mario Kart Tour is a free game for Android and iOS released in September 2019 as a racing game from the Mario universe, well known by almost the entire gamer community as this title has appeared on different Nintendo systems over the years.

Despite being a free video game it has a wide universe of micro transactions, starting with a monthly subscription that will allow you to have certain advantages, and something that I consider absurd is that they unlock the 200 cc mode, the maximum difficulty allowed.

There are several types of tokens within the Mario Kart Tour, some of which are available for free by winning the races, but others you're required to pay for. As you can imagine, they're the most important, as they allow you to get characters or new karts faster so you don't have to wait as long.

You have the opportunity to play as many times as you want for free and to be able to advance through each of the levels (except the 200 cc one) but to be able to unlock new tracks you need stars which you get by winning races, having the need to repeat many times the same tracks to be able to get the necessary amount of stars.

This makes Mario Kart Tour a very repetitive game, unless you pay to advance quickly and easily, but personally I think that doing this is completely crazy.

All the money you're likely to invest in Mario Kart Tour can be used to buy a second-hand Nintendo system and purchase one of the Mario Kart systems where you don't have to pay anything at all and you'll be enjoying a complete video game, with no commercials, no advertising.

It's sad to see one of Nintendo's best sagas fall into the micro-transaction market, I just hope the future of video games doesn't turn into this, it would be very disappointing.

What do you think of the Mario Kart Tour? If you've played it, tell me your experience in the comments section.

Play the game daily, not spent one penny on it. Multiplayer rollout not too long ago worked pretty nicely.
