If You're Not Using The Epic Games Store, You're Really Missing Out

I first heard about the Epic Games Store when it first launched a little over a year ago. I'd downloaded it, claimed a free game (Super Meat Boy) and just never really used it again. I just downloaded their launcher again and wow.... have I missed out! They have new free games for you pretty much every week. You simply have to add them to your collection and they're yours to keep forever. I figured that the free games that they offered would be just terrible games, but yet again I was wrong. For the next 24 hours you can get both Faeria and Assassin's Creed: Syndicate for free. They may not be the newest games out, but they're not bad games especially when you consider that they're free.

Most people have heard about Fortnite and they either love it or hate it. It's the game that really put Epic on the map in a big way. Even if it isn't your cup of tea though, Epic's free game selections are nothing to sneeze at. They've given away some really good games over the past year. I'm actually bummed out that I missed some of them because they're titles that I would have loved to have owned.

Instead of listing the games that really stand out to me as being incredible games, I've decided to just list all of them here to give you an idea of the kind of games that they've given away over the last year or so. To give credit where credit is due though, I got this list from here.

If you're a gamer, you've probably heard of quite a few of these titles.

Without further ado, here's the full list of games that they've given away over the past year with timestamps of when they were available:

Do yourself a favor and start using the Epic Games Store. If nothing else, do it for the great free games that you'll get.

One thing that I've noticed is that it seems like for a lot of games, they're actually cheaper on the Epic Games Store than on Steam. It seems like when there's competition, the consumers ultimately win!

Sort:

Sure, Epic hands out free games a lot but I've used Steam for around 6-7 years now, I've got plenty of games there, and feel like having many different programs with the same features and point to be a little pointless.

Plus you can often get free games for Steam from Humble Bundle, and Steam has sometimes put some games free to claim during a certain period.

Also I remember a site called steamgifts that I haven't used for years now (simply forgot about it) where people put their unused Steam keys up for giveaway and it automatically chooses a winner whom the giver has to send the Steam key or as a gift from their inventory. It's mostly legit. I won the game [PROTOTYPE] from there once.

I've used Steam for around four years at this point and I have a lot of games on there as well. I love Humble Bundle and have written about it in past articles and even mentioned it in some recent articles on here. Humble Bundle games aren't exactly free though.

It used to be where you could pay as little as a penny for a game bundle, but they've since changed that to where you have to spend at least a dollar. I used Humble Bundle before they even tied in Steam keys to it. I still have about 5 games from years back that are actually in my Humble Bundle Library and not on Steam.

I seemed to have written a lot recently about online platforms for PC games. Epic games is great for free games and sales do tend to usually be better than Steam from what I've seen. Steam is the gold standard and 90% of the games that I own are on there. Humble Bundle is just awesome. GOG I love almost as much as Humble.

To get really cheap games, buying Steam keys from third party sellers is technically the cheapest way to go and that's how I've gotten many of the games that I have in my library. In my experience, they're usually less than half the price of what it sells for on Steam and more often than not, much cheaper than even that.

Yeah, true, but I meant that Humble Bundle sometimes gives games away for free like it did with GRID, GRID 2, F1 a while ago.

I agree, third party sellers tend to give better prices than Steam itself. There are also websites comparing prices from all sellers for users to find the best current price. :P

!ENGAGE 35

I actually didn't know that. Usually once a week, I like to go on Humble and see what bundles they have. I missed some really good bundles from like a year ago.
