"Weekly Contest 25 || The Diary Game || Harvest Day"
Hello everyone. I'm happy to be part of this contest organized by @m-fdo. Please permit me to use this medium to wish all of you a prosperous year.
The beginning is always demanding but we have came to realize that this year will be the best amongst what we've encountered in the past years .
I'm sharing with you all my diary game I had during my Christmas holiday. It was a great day that reminds me of those days when I was in the village and Secondary school precisely. Well I think I made a best decision because I'd established the hardworking spirit in me .
In the Morning
Early in the morning, I was on a haste to start harvesting because I believed that when once the sun rises, the soil will be more harder due to the dry season . As I reach the farm, I was in a deep fear on how to get rid of soldier ants that penetrated around the farm land for some hours because I prepared to start harvesting once I get there .
Fortunately, the soldier ants were getting off the farm as I sprinkle water , mixed with salt on them .
I then start digging the ground, omg , it was really hard which prompted me to pour water around the mounds . Until then I pull in more effort which took me two hours to lift the yam out of the soil . It was really demanding a tricky care , such that one need to be careful to avoid the damage of the yam eyes .
After then , I successfully harvest the yam and my mum was happy about it which she came to see how yieldy the yam was, and had produce multiple smaller tubers for forth planting season.
It was already 10 AM and I was really hungry . As the matter of fact , I left the farm with the yam and my mum volunteered to carry the spade.
I then take my brunch which was my favorite meal( coconut rice 😀) and banana .
After eating , I took a deep nap for some hours so to wake up before 2 PM to roast some Garri that we processed yesterday.
In the Afternoon
I woke up late though I had a plan . My elderly sister was off to the market to buy some stuff and I was the only one left. I have to handle everything myself because I have an experience on how to roast Garri right when I was 13.
So I began with sieving before proceeding to roasting.
It was good to see myself being busy doing something impressive. "It's a beautiful thing to see you hardworking this way" , my mum said .
I was just curious on how to finish up everything but it was a surprise to finish before the time I expected.
In the Evening
My sister ask me to accompany her to the market. I was much honoured to buy stuff from our village market though people are buying in small quantities but the Number of people that I saw was so obvious that the New year celebration was really extensive.
I couldn't believe the price of a chicken could be up to 25K . I was shocked if the seller was just kidding until we confirmed from other people.
Current Steem Price | Chicken Price | Price in Steem |
---|---|---|
N453 | 25k | 56 steem |
It is sad to see things getting costlier everyday. The economy isn't friendly at all , but we Thank God because we could afford a chicken neither.
As we came back from the market It was already getting to night time .
Meanwhile I and my siblings were chatting among ourselves with laughter while the Chicken was in plucking .
The most interesting part of my day was I have been able to accomplish what was meant to be done. And at least I've helped my mum in most of her challenging tasks.
