Introduction

I hope life is treating you well. Me I am okay and I wish to take part in this contest about education. Education is a powerful tool in society today. When someone has not been educated, it makes their life a little bit harder than If they had had an education.

What is education?

First of all, education is the gaining of knowledge by going to school to be taught in different perspectives concerning different subjects such as art, music, philosophy, medicine, languages, writting, science, etc. Education can be done both informally and formally. We call it informal education when you get taught about things at home such as washing utensils, milking the cow, slashing the compound and taking care of the baby. With a formal education, you leave home and go to school or are homeschooled by a professional teacher in different subjects according to the syllabus.

Why is it important to a child?

Education is important to a child in many ways for instance;

• Education sharpens the child's brain. When a child learns about these subjects, they can be smart and creative in thier daily life and life ahead.
• Education is important for the child to become a responsible citizen in his home country. Without much of an education, a person may become a criminal instead.
• Education is a pre- requisite for a child to grow into a useful person whereby they can work and provide for their families in future.
• An educated child knows their rights and will also uphold the rights of others.
• Education is important for a child because through it, the child can learn about his or her surroundings and body. This helps to take better care of them.

At what age should a child start learning?

I think the child should start learning as soon as they can talk. When a child begins to mimick words and syllables, they should begin to be taught the basics in speech, then taken to school. This usually happens at age 2 and a half or three years old.

What is done in your locality to embrace modern education?

In my locality, in order to embrace modern education, alot has been done including;

• Building schools; This includes private and government aided schools. For my case, I go to a government aided school. Due to the construction of these schools, children do not need to walk longer distances while going to school like in the days of our grandfathers.

• Free Education; In my country, there is a program by government to give free education for all in government aided schools and it's called UPE (Universal Primary Education). Because of this, many pupils from low income families are able to attend school at subsidized payment.

• Sensitization of Parents; Many people did not know the value of education and this means many of our parents and grandparents are illeterate. However, because of government intervention, they have been taught the in importance of taking their children to school

• In a bid to embrace modern education, modern labaratories and libraries have been built to enhance education in different subjects.

• Many school owners have also improved many children's chances of a better education through giving out bursaries to bright students even up to university level.

• Lastly but not least, modern education has been enhanced by through improving internet services and of late, zoom classes for those who could afford worked really well especially in Covid 19 pandemic

Conclusion.

In conclusion, I thank the steemkidss community for this wonderful opportunity to share about education. Without education, the world would not see the Nelson Mandelas Of our day, the Eisteins of science and the Napoleons that make the world a better place to be.
