Greeting/Introduction

Hello fellow kids lovers, how have you been? I hope you are all fine and safe? Am glad to make my entry into this week's Steemkidss contest by @ngoenyi captioned: YOUR WORST CHILDHOOD CHORES. In this post I will share with you the three chores that were my worst as a child, the reasons I hated them and the person that made me do them.

Mention at least 3 childhood chores that are your worst .

My three worst Childhood Chores are;

  • Washing of dishes
  • Washing my clothes and
  • Fetching water.

Amongst these chores listed above, my worst of the three is fetching water. This is because; growing up we (my family) lived in a locality called Umulolo in Okigwe, Imo State. Here, the only source of water is stream water, this streem is located miles away from area occupied by humans.

Every house hold provides each of their kids with a sizeable container according to their age. Because we were still very tender, our containers were also small and can only contain a little quantity of water. And as a result, we had to shuffle through this bushy and lonely path for as many times as necessary to provide enough water for the use of the family. This is very stressful and tiering and it takes most of the time I should have used to play. That was the reason I disliked going to fetch water.

Why are they your worst chores?

I am the first of the three children that my parents had, and as a result, most of these chores fell on my shoulders because my siblings were very much younger and could not handle them.

Unfortunately for me, mostimes, when am supposed to be playing with my peers (who mostly had elder brothers and sisters that helped with their chores) I would be called upon and made to perform these chores, especially, washing of plates.

Who normally send you to do them?

My mother is the person that will always compel me to attend to these chores. She had her ways, if I try to be reluctant, she would flog me. Other times, she threatened me of reporting me to Daddy, and I would not want that because it will not end well.

Are they still your worst now?

I can't say about fetching water this is because, i have steady water rushing from the taps of the building where I currently live, so i wouldn't know if i still have that phobia about fetching water.

Perhaps, currently, washing of dishes and washing of my clothes are still my worst of all chores. I know this because I still live alone and I have discovered that I don't like any of these two chores.

I feel very reluctant to carry out anyone of them. Sometimes, I send for my sister to come help me with my clothes. I seldomly cook because I don't want to wash plates, and when I eventually cook, I can abandon the plates for days before I can get myself to wash them or untill someone comes along to help (a visitor)

Will you encourage your kids to hate those chores?

No, I will not encourage my kids to also hate these chores after me. Instead, I will device other means to encourage them so that they can do this with ease and joy. Maybe, I play music for them while they perform these chores or gift them periodically to encourage them. I will also try to join them occasionally to boost their morale and make them these chores as fun and not a punishment.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I would like to say that I would really want to give my kids a better life than what I had growing up. I will not allow them to go through the stress of certain things like fetching water and firewood. I will also provide them with a washing machine to ease the stress of washing of clothes.

Regardless, I will like to also state clearly that parents should try as much as possible to encourage their kids to know these basic chores (washing their clothes, doing the dishes, and sweeping of the house) at the tip of their fingers, this is because it is for their own good and it will help them eventually much later in life.

Finally, am inviting my friends to this contest and comunity. There are lots to benefit you can benefit from if you join this community. @breeze.com @joeboi and @frank10

Thank you @steemkidss.

Mhnn @uzoma24, its like we come from the same area oooo. You will go for about 90 minutes to fetch water and carry it on your head back home and its just 1 bucket of water, so stressfull village life. Thanks for waking my memory up there.

@essygold I recall those experiences with nostalgia. Growing up wasn't easy. But we thank God for how far he have brought us despite where we are coming from.
