Thediarygame for 8th December, 2023: My Day In Words and Pictures.

Imagine visiting new places from time to time and getting to meet new people, that's what this work holds and Friday was another of such days.

The day like most days began with me lying on my bed and thinking of the activities I had planned for the day. I was to have lectures in the morning by 10am and another in the afternoon by 3pm but then, the ushering agency I work with had a work which was taking us to another local government, Ikot Ekpene precisely and I was to go along with seven other ushers.
After weighing my options and priorities, I decided to attend the morning lectures but miss out on the afternoon lecture as I would be taking up the ushering work.
Leaving my bed to start my day, I said my morning prayers and started preparing for school. As one of my habits, I decided to check what was going on in our unit group chat on messenger. That was when I got the information that the morning class was cancelled and an assignment was given.

Since my morning class was cancelled, I used that time to get ready for my main focus for the day; my ushering work. For the work, we were earlier informed we would be using a white shirt, black skirt, skin colour pantyhose and a black cover shoe. As a member of D'Evergreens agency, I had all these already I just needed to iron them and get ready.

The event was to begin by 12pm but due to the distance, we were to leave one hour before the time in order to get there on time. The event was two in one, a conference and induction ceremony which had reputable and highly recognized professors and doctors present.
We left as a group as reached our destination by 11:45am. The event was yet to begin, we used some time to know the environment and every other thing we should know concerning the occasion.

This event consisted of inductees, awardees, members of the association, the elders, the cultural dancers and the general guest. By 12:15pm, most guest were seated while the cultural dancers started warming up the arena.
After a while of dancing and dancing and dancing, the MC took up the stage said some opening prayer and the event began officially. He started off by recognizing the presence of very important personalities such as the vice-chancellor of Akwa Ibom State Universities, the chairman, Obong Prof. NkereUwem Etukudoh, Ataifiok Dr. Johnson Akpakpan and many others whose name I can't readily remember.
The MC then moved into calling on the various personalities who were to occupy the high table. At this point we the ushers made sure to direct and guide every guest that was called from the area we were assigned to.
From here, there was an opening speech given by the chairman and another speech by the organizer of the event.
The event went on following the agenda for the day. Further into the activities for the day, the inductees came and then matched in while their anthem was sang. After matching to their various seats, the award presentation began and many people were given different awards based on their areas of best impact. This was one of the highlights of the event for me as I watched professors and doctors being called upon to receive various spectacular awards.

Just after giving awards, we the ushers started sharing the food bags which contained a plate of food, a can drink, table water, spoon and toothpick. Each usher was assigned an area to serve which we did smartly and judiciously.
After some more words and speeches, the event came to an end with a word of prayer from one of the guest.

Immediately the event ended, we left the venue in order to make it on time to Uyo where we stayed.
On my way home, I passed by a church where Shiloh service was ongoing.
In all it was a busy but interesting day as I got to travel out from one local government area to another and also meet different people. The kind of days I love.

University of Uyo is such an unpredictable place whereby things changes in a twinkle of an eye. The postponement of the lectures was an added advantage to you for preparation. I hope everything went well? Thanks for inviting me

Personally, the lectures being postponed was a goodnews which would have been even better if it didn't come with an assignment.
