Good day great steemians! This is another intriguing contest brought up by @drhira on Steem kids & parents community titled "sorry"

Sorry, a very unique and distinct word. Going through the contest post, my thought was drawn to this realization of how vital sorry is in any humans life.

As imperfect as we all are, we are indefinitely bound to make mistakes, act rashly, behave outrightly and eventually realize our wrong. That is when sorry comes to play.

It helps us make amends, apologize, and express our guilt and regret. That is why even above human, there is a necessity for genuine exchange of sorrys in any society.

Everyone can step out of line ones in a while, we are likely to go wrong in one way or another. Just like pencils, imperfect. That's why we need our eraser, sorry not to completely erase our wrong but to make things just right.

What exactly does the word SORRY mean?

Before we go any further, let's understand more about the essence of sorry. Sorry is an English word used to express a sincere feeling of guilt, reproach or repentance towards a person or group of person owing to a previous wrong.

It is mostly used during an apology, when confessing a wrong doing. For a sorry to be genuine, it has to be sincere and expressed whole heartedly out of one's free will.

Do you think you hurt your beloved one's?

Definitely, as I emphasized early mistakes is part of human existence. So as another imperfect human, yes, I must have hurt my loved ones in several ways but eventually we always make up.

Most cases, I said something I shouldn't have or I ignored their pain or did something I shouldn't. Like an incident that happened quite a long time ago.

I took some clothes from my elder sister's bag for an event without her consent. When she found out, definitely she was mad and nagged about it for sometime.

What was even more infuriating was that I refused to apologize and was being very adamant but eventually after the apology I was instigated to make everything died down and I'm sure she barely remembers that incident now.

How much time you take to say sorry?

To strangers or just random acquaintances, I find it more easier to say sorry. I would say I apologise almost immediately after the wrong but when it comes to family members and very close friends, it becomes a little hard especially if the issue is blown out of proportion.

So to strangers and for little faults, I am very quick at saying sorry for those but when it comes to family members and closed friends, it may take some time.

Mostly, it's not necessary because I don't want to apologize but sometimes I find it hard to and if I get more pressured into apologising, I could eventually break down in tears.

In all these, I still try as much as possible to avoid malice so I think it is best to adopt to apologising immediately after a wrong

CONCLUSION

When we talk about sorry, our thoughts are mostly drawn to our wrong doings to others but what about ourselves.

Do we ever apologize to our own self for our ill behaviour, for paying more attention to others criticism rather than listening to ourselves, for never really taking time to know more about ourselves, for not being confident enough, for not giving ourselves the kind of life we deserve and for letting others walk all over us.

Come to think of it, we have many reasons to apologise to our own self because we mostly take ourselves for granted and hardly encourage or recognise our little achievements. We rarely spent time just alone trying to understand how our minds work.

It's high time we told ourselves sorry and really meant it. We have done wrong to many others definitely but including ourselves too, so this is a reminder to us to go back and ensure we say all the necessary sorrys.
