SEC14 WK:#5: Charity Begins at home
Assalamualaikum everyone!
Welcome to the post. Hopefully, all of you will be doing well and enjoying the time with the grace and blessings of Almighty Allah. Today, I'm here to be a part of the week 5 contest in the Steem Kids & Parents community. The topic of discussion for today is Charity Begins at Home. So, let's start the fun without any wastage of time.
What is your view about charity and do you believe that it should begin at home?
The purpose of the human life is actually to help each other in the difficult situations or circumstances. So charity refers to a process of helping the needy ones that are present around us and are expecting help from us. Charity is not just a help but it is actually the name of feeling the pain of the mankind and helping them with the best of our affordability.
Most of the time charity is considered as helping someone financially but it is not limit. Charity could be in any form which is helpful to the people or person for whom we wish to make charity. I also agree with the fact that charity should begin at the home because it is also a lesson of our religion Islam that we should first look into our social circle while making charity.
Charity is actually an act which is highly appreciated in our religion Islam. It is also one of the five basic aspects of Islam that we should spend some of the money that has been bestowed to us by Almighty Allah. And in fact, it is a source of mental satisfaction for all the Muslims and other people as well to make charity from their money and resources.
What is the motivating factor for charity work and is it good to broadcast what you have done for others?
The motivating factor for the charity work is actually religious teachings. It is highly appreciated and actually it is the responsibility of every Muslim to make charity from the resources that has been bestowed to him by Almighty Allah. So, it is a great motivation for many of the people while doing the charity work.
Another important thing that motivate any of the people to do the charity work is that it provide the mental satisfaction to them. One more thing is that if someone is doing the charity work today and helping someone today then unfortunately when bad that person is in weak conditions, someone could help him in the same way he has helped others. So, it is also a great motivating factor.
When was the last time you carried out charity work to the members of your home.
According to me, the publicity of our charity work is not appropriate. This thing is also prohibited in our religion Islam. This is because there are many such people which are living lower middle class life and sometimes they are in severe need of Charity or something like that but due to their self respect they don't ask anyone.
So, it is not good to publicly aware all the people around them about the fact that they have received charity from you or your group or so. Charity is a matter between the given and the receiver and it should not be promoted elsewhere. It is a well narrated quote in our religion Islam,
Give charity in such a way that if you are giving it with the right hand then your left hand is not aware of the charity work.
So, I don't think it is appropriate to share my charity work with you but I must say that we should always prefer giving charity to our near and dear ones who are in severe need of our help but are not asking for anything.
Your advice to others about charity.
The first and the most important advise about charity is that we should never publish or promote the charity activity by showing that we are giving something to someone as this thing can hurt the self respect of the receiver and if the self respect of someone is hurt during the process then there is no benefit of charity work.
Another important thing is that we should notice the needs of our near and dear ones before giving them charity. We should help them with such things that are severe needed by them in this way our purpose of giving charity is also full field and their need is also satisfied. Moreover, we should look into our social circle before making any charity work and prioritize the homies, neighbors or relatives.

You have explained this topic is in one of the most best way. I totally agree with you that we should not hurt the self respect of others by promoting any kind of charity act. I have seen that there are many of the people who are in favour of it but I am against just like you.

Charity is a humanitarian work done by noble people. Charity is a process of helping needy people without compensation, which may be money, food, clothing, good advice. It is true that charity is said to be a good deed in every religion. Starting from a charity home, the children become humanized. Charity isn't about broadcasting, it's about empathy. It is first that we must look within the circle.
