INTRODUCTION

Hello Steemkidss community and my fellow steemit lovers of kids in this community, how're you people doing at the moment?

In this content, i am going to share with you guys some useful and practical tips on various aspects of kiddies' health and wellness especially for the benefit of those of us who have kids at home.

As parents, your choices concerning how to go about your children's health and well-being should start before your child is even given birth to. For example, these choices should center on what type of foods to feed them, the right and appropriate type of discipline to administer to them, etc.

But then, the choices that parents, caregivers and guardians make concerning their kids' health will definitely impact on there kids either positively or negatively throughout their lifetime, hence those decisions should be made with serious consideration.

And so at this point, we will consider some of the general tips on how parents can make healthy choices for their kids, you may check out below for those tips as outlined one after the other.

Decide On Nursing Or Formula

Nursing, which refers to breast-feeding, is a naturally wonderful way of bonding between the mother and her baby. Of course, human milk is also naturally rich in numerous nutrients, with strong immunity that can help safeguard your child from germs.

According to the current Dietary Guidelines For Americans, the Department of Agriculture and the Department Health and Human Services endorse or approve of exclusive breast-feeding for infants for their first 6 months, continuing with this exclusive nursing for a period of 1 year.

A mother can also nurse her baby for a longer time depending on her choice. It is true that nursing a child is not for every mother, nonetheless, it requires sufficient time, attention, dedication, devotion to healthy feeding, etc.

Since some mothers aren't physically fit to nurse their babies, the fact remains that nursing a baby is a personal choice, and even if a mother does not nurse or wants to feed her baby with both infant formula and human milk, the most important thing is that infant formula can still give a baby the needed nutrients for growth and nourishment.

Safeguard Kiddies' Skin From Sun(Sun Safety)

It's true that summertime is for children, however, summersun is not, because exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun can cause physical harm to the skin and also heighten the chances of developing cancer of the skin much later in life.

Infants less than 6 months shouldn't be exposed to direct sunlight if at all possible. A caring and loving mother should give attention to keeping her baby in the shade as often as possible during summertime when the weather is too warm.

Remember that infants can easily or quickly feel very hot, hence, ensure that you keep close watch on your kids for any symptoms of dehydration.

Keep Up To Date On Vaccinations.
Vaccination is an essential tool for safeguarding your child from possible sicknesses that endanger life. Vaccines function by introducing a child's immunity to a small amount of a germ, thereby boosting the immunity to be able to fight against that germ if it is experienced in the future.

There are different approved or prescribed vaccines depending on your kid's age. For instance, the centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) endorses that kids take the following vaccines at some particular points in time within the first 2 years of life:

Aside from young kiddies, older children and adolescents as well should receive some type of vaccines which are also important for them, and those vaccines include:

  • The human papillomavirus(HPV) vaccine.
  • A yearly flu vaccine.
  • The covid-19 vaccine.
  • The meningococcal conjugate vaccine.
  • A tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough(Tdap) booster every 10 years.

Of course, all of the afore-mentioned vaccines are both safe and effective.

Focus On A Nutritious Diet.

The choice of diet you make for your kids can affect their feeding habits either for good or for bad when they become adults.

Besides, an unbalanced meal can result in various health complications later in life, which include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, etc. Therefore, focus your choice of diets on the following:
Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fresh fish, poultry meat, fiber-rich foods such as beans and leafy greens.

Meanwhile, you should avoid, or limit your children from taking foods that are high in saturated fats, salt, sugar, refined carbohydrates.

Ensure Good Sleep.

Good and appropriate sleep is important for everyone's health but particularly for kiddies' health. In fact, poor amount of sleep is not unconnected with various bad impacts in kids and this include: behavioral issues, poor concentration, mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, lower immunity function, inclination or tendency to health conditions such as diabetes or obesity.

In order to help facilitate a good sleep environment, the following hints can be helpful:

  • Choose or decide a bedtime and endeavor to strictly adhere to it regularly.

  • You may decide to lull your kid to sleep, depending on the age, such as by reading to him or her, by singing or playing soothing music to get him or her to sleep.

  • Make sure that your kid's bedroom is dark, calm and kept at a comfortable temperature that is conducive for sleeping, as in not too hot or too cold.

  • Ensure that your child doesn't engage in strenuous activities or games shortly prior to bedtime.

  • Don't give your kids foods or drinks that have high sugar or caffein content in the evening, to enable them catch some sleep.

  • Set time limit for when your kids need to quit using electronics such as TVs, Video games, or computers.
