On this week 35 of this regular contest, i would be guiding the kids in the house on how to make my best drink, it is called Zobo drink..
A BRIEF INTRO
The Zobo drink is most popular in many parts pf Nigeria.
The name 'zobo' was coined from the Hausa language in the country, as this plant is mainly grown and harvested there.
It has it's English name as Hibiscus sabdariffa drink or better still known as Red tea.
It is rich, delicious and highly medicinal.
Hey kids! I am sure you are going to have fun learning this, let's begin !
INGREDIENTS NEEDED
Yes kids, to make this special Zobo drink, you would be needing the following ingredients:
🍶 Zobo leaves
🍶 Ginger (optional)
🍶 Pineapple
🍶 Pineapple flavour
🍶 Lots of water
THE MAKING
Step 1:
Select the dry zobo leaves to ensure they are free from debris and sand. Preferably you could wash it lightly with water.
Step 2:
Prepare your ginger by peeling off the skin, washing and grating, this is going to give some reviving fresh feeling to our drink.
Step 3:
Prepare your pineapple too, i choose to use just the peels after washing it thoroughly under running water, you could choose to use the edible portion or both, as you like it, it's all about that flavour.
Step 4:
Set a pot on fire with your zobo leaves, put adequate water to cover.
PS:- Do not worry, we are going to be repeating this process twice to make sure the juice is well extracted.
Step 5:
Put in your grated ginger, and the peeled pineapple into the mixture and cover to boil.
Step 6:
After this mixture has boiled for about 20minutes, by then you should perceive the aroma floating the air.
Bring down the pot, set a sieve and drain out the liquid.
Add another water to the pre boiled zobo leaves and condiments in the pot and re-heat.
Step 7:
Ok, after i have had all of that done, i now put in my pineapple flavour, stirring it and tasting so that it is not too sugary.
Final step:
I set it aside to cool after that i fill them up into empty containers and refrigerate.
