Discipline is an important requirement in human life. It helps us to be a good person and train us to lead a good life. Without discipline our life can be like the life of other wild animals. The training of discipline begins at home and our parents and family teaches us maintaining discipline, later when we grow up and go to school, our teachers teaches us discipline.

If parents and teachers are strict to establish discipline then this is fair enough for stubborn kids. There are many incidents we have experienced in childhood when our parents and teachers tried to teaches us discipline. It helped us to have a good personality and we also learned the difference between good and bad.

👉How do you view discipline?

For me Discipline is like a cutter. Most of the cutter gives a perfect shape to any kind of object and discipline can be compared to the cutter because it give us a perfect shape in our character. We learn the importance of discipline and we start giving value the time and maintain a routine for daily activities and we apply discipline on everything to make it perfect and give it a perfect shape. I'll give some perfect example of applying discipline soon so be with me till the end.

👉Have you been disciplined before or have you ever disciplined someone?

My whole childhood was under strict discipline, as a result my academic result was pretty good. My parents teaches my maintain a good routine and at that time there was no smart phone or digital gadgets to waste time on that. My parents allowed us playing, watching TV and other fun activities but they it was not random.

We had time limits for each task and we got punishment if we become rude ever. Discipline gives us the knowledge of gentle behavior and doesn't allow us doing anything bad. I was disciplined by my parents and I disciplined myself when I grown up. I also disciplined my students as a teacher and taught them manner of talk and act many times and they were good enough so I never became so strict to them.

👉Do you consider discipline as love or hatred despite how it is given?

I consider discipline taste like a bitter ground which taste bitter but at the same time good for our health. Its hard to maintain discipline sometimes but it is good for us. Discipline can be considered as hidden love. For example, our mom often scold us for doing anything wrong because she doesn't want us to repeat the same mistake or wrong activity.

I can explain it with a simple example. Suppose, a boy start smoking at his early age and we know how smoking injurious to health so a teacher punish the boy because he want him to leave the bad addiction of smoking so the teacher become strict but the teacher is the well wisher for the boy who is addicted to smoking. Discipline should be consider as love but this is hidden love which is good for us.

👉Do you think discipline is beneficial to kids?

Yes I think discipline is beneficial to kids but at the same time I also think parents and teachers shouldn't be too strict if they can establish discipline with love and care. This is not necessary that parents and teachers will be strict to kids to help them learning discipline, some kids can learn discipline by their own when they see their parents and teachers are already maintaining discipline in their life.

But I also believe that, nothing wrong if they need to be strict to establish discipline for stubborn kids but better make kids understand by words and expressions, scolding them could bring a negative result. Need to understand the psychology of kids and deal with them accordingly.

👉Your personal advice to those who give discipline and to those who receive it."

Well I think I've already talk about it above but would like to add more. A person who is trying to establish or give discipline shouldn't be rude or too much strict all the time. Sometimes our silence can be more powerful than our words so just give an expression to give discipline , if it doesn't work then try another method. Hitting and scolding can't bring discipline. If you are giving or establishing discipline then obey them at first and tell other to follow or else no one will respect the discipline you are trying to establish.

For example, you don't brush your teeth at night before going to bed but you are ordering your kids to do that. Now kids will find it unnecessary because you are not discipline yourself so why they should follow your words ? Likely, when you are a discipline receiver you must follow the individual trying to bring discipline on your habits. So a person should be self disciplined at first then he/she can discipline others.
