Steemkids Mathematics Lesson Week 2||Area of Plane Shapes
Introduction
Hello dear friends.Trust you are fine.Here comes another day to present another lesson to you.Welcome to the second lesson of the year.The lesson runs biweekly in this Steemkids Community.I am glad to start the week two of the lesson series today.
This week we shall look at the topic Area of Plane Shapes.It is a very simple and interesting topic.
Area of Plane Shapes
Plane Shapes are shapes that can be drawn on a flat surface.Examples are square, rectangle,circle etc.
In our last class we looked at Perimeter of plane shapes and today we are moving to Area of and shapes.
The Area of a plane shape is the space occupied or covered by the shape.It can also be seen as the quantity of space a plane can occupy.The unit of area is usually the unit squared.For this week's class we shall look at area of a circle,square, rectangle and triangle.
Area of a Rectangle,Square, Triangle and Circle
- Area of a Rectangle=L x W
where L=length,W=width
- Area of a Square=L^2
where L=length
Area of a Circle=πr^2
Where π=22/7,r=radiusArea of Triangle=1/2 bh
As you can see.The Area of each shape has its own formular.I have presented the solution of a problem on how to solve the Area of a circle in the video below.

Examples
1.) Find the area of a circle whose radius is 7cm
I have explained the procedure via the video above
2.) Find the area of a rectangle whose length is 7cm and width 4cm
Use the procedure as explained in the video
3.) Find the area of a square whose length is 4cm
4.) Find the area of a triangle whose height is 5cm and the base is 6cm
Use the procedure as explained in the video
Homework
1.) Find the area of a rectangle whose length is 7cm and with 3cm
2.) Find the area of a circle with radius 5cm
3.) Find the area of a square whose length is 10m
4.) A triangle has a base of 8cm and height of 9cm.Calculate the area?
