Steemkids Mathematics Lesson Week 1||Perimeter of Plane Shapes
Introduction
Hello to all the kids in the house.Its another day to present another lesson to you.Welcome to the first lesson of the year.I haven't been available due to some circumstances beyond my control.I am glad to start the week one of the lesson series today.
This week we shall look at the topic Perimeter of Plane Shapes.It is a very simple and interesting topic.
Perimeter of Plane Shapes
Plane Shapes are shapes that can be drawn on a flat surface.Examples are square, rectangle,circle etc.
The Perimeter of a plane shape simply means the total distance round the shape.For a circle,the perimeter is the same as the circumference.Now lets look at how to find the perimeter of a rectangle,square and circle.
Perimeter of a Rectangle,Square and Circle
- Perimeter of a Rectangle=2(L+W)
where L=length,W=width
- Perimeter of a Square=4L
where L=length
- Perimeter of a Circle=2πr
Where π=22/7,r=radius
As you can see.The Perimeter of each shape has its own formular.I have presented the solution of a problem on how to solve the Perimeter of a Square in the video below.

Examples
1.) Find the Perimeter of the rectangle whose length is 10cm and width 5cm
I have explained the procedure via the video above
2.) Find the perimeter of a square whose length is 4cm
Use the procedure as explained in the video
3.) Find the perimeter of a circle whose radius is 7cm
4.) Find the perimeter of a rectangle with length is 8cm and width 2cm
Use the procedure as explained in the video
Homework
1.) Find the perimeter of a rectangle whose length is 7cm and with 3.5cm
2.) Find the perimeter of a circle with radius 14cm
3.) Find the perimeter of a square whose length is 7cm
4.) Why do I give only length without giving the width of the square?
