What is Poverty?
Poverty can be defined as a situation in which someone can't afford the basic amenities of life like food, clothing, shelter e.t.c

List and explain five causes of poverty?
Some of the causes of poverty includes,

Unemployment and lack of good job.
Unemployment is one of the major cause of poverty in my Country Nigeria. Many people have no job, and the ones that have their take home every month is not enough to cater for their needs.

Laziness
Most times laziness is a major factor that cause poverty. Some people don't want to do dirty jobs like Carpentry and bricklaying to earn money. Everyone wants to do the white collar job.

Overpopulation
Overpopulation can also cause poverty. When a family gives birth to more than the number of children they can cater for, taking care of them becomes a problem.

Corruption
Most top Government official are so corrupt, they usually embezzle funds meant for the citizens and the poor masses suffer it.

Incessant hike in the cost of goods in the market
Here in Nigeria, we witness inflation on daily basis in the price of goods in the market and these affects people income.

Explain at least five consequences of Poverty.

Drug trafficking
A lot of people who can't endure untold hardship usually resort to drug trafficking in order to fend for themselves.

Prostitution
Most girls who are into prostitution are not enjoying the work. They're doing it to escape Poverty.

Illness and death
Poor people can't afford good healthcare and most times they develop some sicknesses which can be avoided with good health care and in worst cases, the illness might result to death.

Arm robbery
Poverty can make people do things they won't do on a regular basis like armed robbery.

Illiteracy
Some poor people can't afford to pay school fees and this causes illiteracy.

What are the poverty alleviation strategy you know and how can it help to reduce poverty?

Poverty alleviation strategy are programs established by Government in other to reduce poverty. Some of the poverty alleviation programs in my Country Nigeria are?

Mechanized Agriculture
There are a lot of money in Agriculture but the reason why farmers don't make enough is because they used crude tools. Mechanized Agriculture helps to eradicate poverty by providing foods in large quantities. The farm products can equally be sold.

Provision of Loan
The Government gives loan to individual to do business after which the people involved pays back with little interest.

Youth Empowerment
The Government encourages the youths to work hard by giving out Motorcycles, Tricycles, sewing machines, buses e. t.c in order to help them.

Operation feed the Nation This was established by General Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of Nigeria. The program is aimed at reducing poverty by providing food.

What can you do to personally alleviate in your locality?
The only thing I will do is to encourage people to venture into entrepreneur because it's the new oil money.

Secondly I will also advise people to have so many source of income because that is how most rich men make their money.
