introduction

hello kids how are you all doing I hope all are moving fine and good sorry for not being active some day ago am here to discuss of diffusion and osomis I promise you all that after this lesson you all will have allot to learn if only you read this very well I will also to invite @garceani @deben @ogwo @innocent10 to go through post and other kids

meaning of transport system

being defined in many ways but through my own understand transport system in living organism is the movement of both organic and inorganic substance from one place in the body to another parts .the movement of these substance from one place of the body to another part of living organism is called transport of substance

important of transport system in living

  • transport system serve as a means of connecting different part of the body
  • it helps in transport raw material to food synthesising tissue
  • it helps in distribution of water to various parts of the body to balance water in the living organism
  • it transport oxygen for repiration from structure like lugs and gills to every living cell in living organism

diffusion

this occurs as a result of difference in concentration of molecules between two region . this can be defined as the process whereby molecular or particles move from region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration diffusion occurs in fluids (liquid and gases) the resaon is that in liquid or gases the molecluse move randomly and spread through any available space until they are evenly dustributed.but in solid the molecules are held strongly together by force of attraction preventung them from moving freely
diffusion in liquid is much slower than diffusion in case

Example of diffusion

  • the diffusion of water through porous pots (earthenware water cooler)to the outside where on evaporates and cause the water to cool
  • the diffusion of petrol or kerosene vapour through air make us sense the scent of petrol or kerosene
  • the smell of stew or the aroma of food from the kitchen spread by diffusion
  • the smell of perfume on a person spread by diffusion
  • gaseous exchange in the lugs of mammals
  • the transport of glucise within the body cell

OSOMOSIS

this is defined in many ways but through my own understanding I sees it to be defined as the movement of solvent or water molecules from a dilute or weaker solution or less concentration solution to a stronger solution or more concentration solution through a semi premable membrane

  • a semi premeable membrane is a material that allow solvent molecules to pass through it readily but does not allow solute particles to pass through it
CONDITIONS REQUIRED FOR OSOMOSIS TO OCCUR
  • there should be two solution of different concentration
  • the two solution must be separated by semi permable membrane
Examples of osmosis in living cells
  • the absorption of soil water through the root cells of plants
  • selective re absorption of water in kidney tubules in mammals
    EXAMPLES OF OSMOSIS IN PLANTS
  • it helps in the movement of water in many parts of the plant such as from the soil through the root and stem to the leaves
  • the movement of water from the living cell to another within a plant
    EXAMPLES OF OSMOSIS IN ANIMALS
  • it really help in the reabsorption of water in the mammals kidney
*it really help in movement/flowing of water into the cytpplasm of amoeba

difference between diffusion and osmosis

  • diffusion involves the free movement of solute molecules or particles while osmosis movement of solute molecules or particles is restricted.
  • in diffusion there is no semi permeable membrane while there is semi permeable membrane in osmosis
  • diffusion occurs in gases and liquid while osmosis occurs in liquid medium only

conclusion

wow am so happy that you all learnt allot I hope this has impacted more thing to you see you in my next entry I promise to keep publishing educative post and stay away from plagirism I will like to thank @ngoenyi on all her effort to see that this community is growing keep it up
