Greetings to all respected members of steem kids community. It is yet another week for us to engage and share amazing content in the community. I am so delighted to embark on s3-w2 challenge with the theme: impacts of technology in kids lives. What an amazing topic of discussion, technology being my thing i will give you just the best of content. Read with me now.

INTRODUCTION

Technology is the science of craft which is based on accumulated knowledge and skills or method. Children has been in contact with digital technology since the creation of personal computer, starting from the creation of video game in the early 20th century, invention of remote controlled toy, children were gradually introduce to technology through this toys. Today many children starting from toddlers right up to teenagers, constantly use tablets, smartphones, and virtual environments for both entertainment and educational purposes.

Aside from kids, technology has been the leading from of the entire world since the 20th century. Industrial revolution was the gateway to technology as it lead to the discovery of areas as agriculture, manufacturing, mining, metallurgy and transportation. Scientific discovery of new concepts lead to the invention of powered flight and developments in medicine, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Recent technological developments, such as the printing press, the telephone, and the Internet, have increase our level of communication and allowed humans to interact on a global scalE.

Ancient and modern human civilizations have both profited from technological innovations, inventions and engineering applications used within societies for various purposes. For societies to thrive and evolve, technological innovations have become necessary, while at the same time cultural ideas, and aspirations of human societies have shaped how those civilizations have created, benefited from, and been implemented by, technology. These technologies change the way societies behave and operate and also affects and evolves our economies, producing a potential greater need for more technology. When we talk of technology impacting the society, we have both positive and negative impacts.

Positive Impact of technology on Society

There are potentially more positive impacts on society and these impacts have made life easier, and have gifted many with the resources, education and tools needed to live a better life. The various domain in which technology has impact the society include:

• Agriculture
• Improvement of Transportation
• Improvement on Communication
• Improving the Education and Learning Process

Negative Impact of Technology on Society

Negative impact of technology result based on this facts:

• The depletion of fossil fuels
• Population Increase/Health Concerns
• Pollution Increase

Positive And Negative Impact of Technology In Kids' Lives

Technology has fast overflow majority of kids around the globe in such a way that they have eventually soaked or become dependent on modern technology. Most homes are equipped with numerous television sets, computers, tablets, and phones left in the hands of children to used and play with. And most children possess their own tablet and phone, right at a young age. Although this accessories help kids greatly, if parental control or restriction is not allowed as well, it become a problem.

Positive Impact Of Technology On Kids

Children can benefit from technology in the following ways.

🔸 With technology, children can connect with their family, friends, and others in ways that strengthen their relationships, especially when using video chat and other real-time interactions.

🔸 Technology helps children become independent learners much quickly. Once they have learn how to access digital information sources safely, they’re able to explore the topics that interest them on their own without any assistance.

🔸 Early access to technology by children teaches them digital literacy skills that will be needed for their future success in school and as the grow to adults.

🔸 Many technology products promote development in children's language and problem-solving skills.

Negative Impact of Technology on Kids

Technology is important in a kids life but if parental control and restriction measures are not applied, the child might face the following problems.

🔸 Lack of attention since they are now so obsessed with the media

🔸 They might develop aggressive behaviors due to what they see on the net.

🔸 The child might become obese due to prolong hours of in activities and physical inactivity and the child might develop cardiovascular diseases in future.

🔸Change in Sleep cycle will result to Sleep disturbances and poor quality sleep for children who overuse social media

🔸 Most children might have a fall in the grades due to prolong hours on technological tools.

How Would I Rate The Impact Of Technology In Kids' Life? Highly Positive Or Negative?

Technology Has been of great help greatly in the domain of education as kids can quickly learn through teaching aids and lots more. For instance in time of covid 19, 48% of children had their lectures online. Which was of great help to them during the crises.

In my opinion I will say technology has impact greater percent of kids negatives starting from toddlers to teenagers. When we go on places like Tik-Tok, Instagram or meta and see the type of content some children create or are exposed to, It pause a serious trait to these kids, I have heard of incident of kids using guns on humans especially U.S due to what they see in movies. Also some of these kids are exposed to vulnerable(sexual) content on the net. And possible hacks
Technology is Impacting the kids more negatively and I think parental control and detention should increase to limit their exposure to vas technology.

Can I Have Control Over The Exposure Of Kids To Certain Technological Products? How?

We adults and Parents can help children benefits of technology more with less of the negative effects. If Parents can start setting some rules like children under certain age don’t use technology tools. Rather They should play along with children to include face-to-face interactions and limit their time of interaction with tech tools. Parents should also work to set barriers including time limits, and type of smartphone use. Implementing cybersecurity software on systems can help protect kids while using technology.

Parents and teachers should go in for quality apps that promote vocabulary, math, literacy, and science. Lastly adults should make sure kids learn more about computer science and IT as part of technology use to give them opportunities for a bright tech future.

CONCLUSION

Technology has revolutionized our world and and everyone in it irrespective of the domain. Kids have much more become part of the technological sphere and we can do little to stop them, there surrounded by it. But If we apply Parental control and better tutoring on technology to kid, they can properly use technological tools for better.
