INTRODUCTION

Hello beautiful kids and amazing parents how are you all doing today I hope all is well, I'm so delighted to be opportune to participate in this amazing contest organised by @udyliciouz titled "Poverty"

Just like most people will say that poverty is a disease affecting almost every country in the world especially in my country Nigeria.

---

WHAT IS POVERTY?

---

The term poverty can be defined as a state of being in which a person is extremely poor to the point that he or she cannot afford for his/her self the basic amenities in life such as clothes, food, shelter etc.

---

It is a very serious situation in which a person lacks both the ability and the resources to be able to live a comfortable life, and this thing called poverty has its causes which will be listed below.

LIST AND EXPLAIN 5 CAUSES OF POVERTY.

---

Some of the three most important causes of poverty in our today's world are;

---

• Ignorance
• Laziness
• Unemployment

---

IGNORANCE

---

Why this is the number one causes of poverty in our society is that an individual may be willing and capable of doing a particular thing which will in turn provide food on his table.

---

But due to the fact that such a person has no idea of that particular work or is ignorant of such thing makes the person not to be able to it thereby remaining idle.

LAZINESS

---

Being ignorant about a particular thing is one thing, but also laziness is one of the major cause of poverty in our society today because most people always feel too proud and do not want to get their hands dirty because of work instead there will be folding their hands and waiting for a white collar job.

UNEMPLOYMENT

---

Lastly the one major causes of poverty in our society is the huge rate of unemployment in our country, in the street you will see a lot of graduate living from hand to mouth on the street simply because they have been denied a job suitable for their qualifications.

EXPLAIN AT LEAST FIVE CONSEQUENCES OF POVERTY.

There are so many consequences cause by poverty some of which includes.

---

• Drug trafficking
• Arm robbery
• Prostitution
• Death
• Pick pocket

DRUG TRAFFICKING

---

A lot of people who are unable to endure the hardship caused by poverty may be force to join an illegal business such as trafficking drugs so as to earn some money to be able to fend for themselves.

ARM ROBBERY

---

So many people in our community today due to poverty there have organised an form a squad whose aim is to rob people off their things.

PROSTITUTION

---

This one is widely common with girls since there will be unable to do hard jobs like the guys due to poverty most of them resort into prostitution in other to survive.

DEATH

---

Due to excess poverty it is possible for an individual to die of hunger or of sickness which he or she won't have any money to buy medicine for his or her self.

---

PICKPOCKET

---

Due to poverty and especially amongst those people who are too proud and lazy to take up any available maniel job to be able to carter for themselves that's why most of them resort into pickpocketing in the street.

WHAT ARE THE POVERTY ALLEVIATION STRATEGIES YOU KNOW AND HOW CAN IT HELPS REDUCE POVERTY.

There are a lot of poverty alleviation strategy which I think would pretty much help reduce the rate of poverty in our society and there are;

• Youth empowerment
• Provision of loans by government
• Job creation

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

---

The government should encourage and support the citizens by empowering them either financially or with the basic equipment needed for the effective flow of their businesses.

---

PROVISION OF LOANS BY GOVERNMENT

---

The government should give out loans to individuals who are qualified to collect them in other to boost their businesses or started up one.

---

JOB CREATION

---

The government should also try and make the availability of work to be sufficient for qualified citizens to be employed.

---

WHAT CAN YOU PERSONALLY DO TO ALLEVIATE POVERTY IN YOUR LOCALITY.

---

What I would do in other to help alleviate the level of poverty in my locality is that I would love to start up a palm kernel business where everyone in etinan would be selling their Palm kernel to me.

---

Therefore in the process since it's not a one man business I would employ some youths that will serves as staff labourers in my Palm kernel business and there will be paid greatly, even though that won't help all but at least a lot of youths would benefits from it.

CAN STEEMIT HELPS ALLEVIATE POVERTY? EXPLAIN.

---

Yes!! Indeed steemit can greatly help alleviate the poverty level in our society in the sense that since steemit is a blogging platform that pays you greatly from the comfort of your home just for writing and publishing articles.

---

Let me use my locality for an example is here in etinan all the youth heard about steemit and almost all of them registered and became active steemians not only will there be an increase in engagement rather there will also be increase in payout.

CONCLUSION

---

Poverty is a very serious infection that shouldn't be taken lightly because once you are inflicted by it, it auters your physical, psychological and emotional state of being thereby affecting your sense of reasoning thus forcing you to do the unthinkable.
