Wednesday – I spy with my little eye – Mini contest (47)

in Steem Kids & Parentslast year

Hello, kids and parents!

It was Thomas Edison, the inventor, who said, “Five percent of the people think; ten percent of the people think they think; and the other eighty-five percent would rather die than think.”

I've got you all thinking!

Let’s take a closer look at last week’s clues.

1. It is a 10-letter word starting with “R”
2. It can control something
3. It can be jumped on and pushed
4. It can slow down and it can increase

And the word is "ROUNDABOUT."

A "ROUNDABOUT" can control traffic, it can be jumped on and pushed by children, and it can slow down or increase speed.

There is even a song with the name “ROUNDABOUT."

I'll be the roundabout
The words will make you out 'n' out
I spend the day your way
Call it morning driving through the sound of
In and out the valley
The music dance and sing
They make the children really ring
I spend the day your way
Call it morning driving through the sound of
In and out the valley

There are two different types of "ROUNDABOUTS" one is enjoyed by adults when they are driving and the other by children playing.

The traffic roundabout or traffic circle

Umh… So often, I cannot help but wonder where drivers get their licenses from, as they don’t know how to use a traffic roundabout.

“A modern roundabout is a circular intersection where drivers travel counterclockwise around a center island. There are not traffic signals or stop signs in a modern roundabout. Drivers entering the roundabout yield to traffic already in the roundabout, then enter the circulating roadway and exit at their desired street, so they function differently from older circular intersection types.” Read more

The roundabout for children

This roundabout only means one thing: FUN! It is also known as a merry-go-round or a carousel.

“The traditional roundabout features a seats and handrails which are attached to a rotating deck. Children can push the roundabout and jump on, or be assisted by a friend or parent.
A less traditional style of roundabout, the Orbit features a seat which rotates around a central axis, with riders using the central hand rail to push themselves around.” Read more

I am sure that next time you see a roundabout you are going to think of this game.

The winner of Week 46 is….still Nobody! It is the first time that there has been no winner for three weeks in a row.

That brings the prize for this week to a whopping 8 STEEM!

Time for your next game!

The game is exactly like last week;

The game “I spy with my little eye” is sort of a detective game. The “spy” is the person who sees something and the rest of the players must then guess what the spy is seeing.

Of importance, it must be something that you can see and not something you can feel like an emotion.

BUT, “I spy with my little eye” is so much more than just a spy game;

  • It is a thinking game
  • It teaches you how to use your logic and reasoning and
  • It grows your vocabulary

For today I am going to give you the letter with which the word starts plus 4 points or “clues” that you can take into consideration to figure out what the word can be.

I spy with my little eye something that begins with the letter “J"

1. It is a 10-letter word
2. It can be a noun or a verb
