Business lesson 107 – How to start your own business

Hi kids!

I’m back! The big move is over and lessons can continue.

Guess what? I’ve missed you on Wednesday!

But now it is time to carry on with our lessons on the three key components or “C’s” of a business;

C – Concept
C – Clients or customer
C – Cash flow

Last time I shared the marketing strategies we took when we launched our property portal.
I'm sure that the Tivvit jingle "Tivvit.com.. Tivvit.com.. Tivvit.com.. Tivvit.com!" is still ringing in your ears.

Those of you who have missed out on our previous lesson I've listed them at the bottom of the post.

For Lesson 107 "C" for clients or customers is still our focus point.

Lesson 107 – SALES STRATEGIES

As we have learned marketing is crucial for all businesses. However, you can do all the marketing that you want but if you cannot convert the client or customer to do that “sales” all your hard work will be go down the drain.

What is sales?

Sales is the transaction which takes place between a buyer and a seller and money is exchange. This transaction can be for goods or services.

With sales there is beautiful term which we refer to, “sales funnel”.
This is whole process which define sales from the time that you have created awareness to the time that you actually close the deal.

Awareness ➜ Interest ➜ Consideration ➜ Decision➜ Purchase

Your sales is the aeroplane that will take you to safe destinies.

What is a sales person?

The salesperson is the person who sells the good or services on behalf of a business.

I do believe that we can all be a sales person but some personalities are just more gifted when it comes to sales. I am one of those who will rather assist with the marketing side than the sale side. However, I’ve made sure that I do know how to close a deal and I for sure know what sales strategy is.

Can you still remember what “sales strategy” is?

Sales strategy – is the way in which you convert these clients or customers into real clients or customers so that you can make money.

Just like with marketing there are also three "P's" for sales.

P – Product
P – People
P– Process

These three "P's" is what your sales strategy should be all about.

Product

The knowledge of your product is key!

You have to know your product and you have to know it well. If I ask a salesperson a question about the product and they cannot answer me it frustrates me. “Just wait, let me find out”.

If you know your product you will feel good about it. This will give you the confidence to sell not only the product but also the benefits of it to any prospective client or customer regardless if sales is in your blood or not.

Passion for the product can only be obtained through the knowledge of the product.

People

If you want to outsmart your competitors you have to know the ins and outs of your clients or customers.

If you know and understand the needs of your clients or customers you are on your way to success.

You have to know who your potential clients or customers are going to be. For example, are they young and must you catch their “vibe” or are the old and you must lend a “helping hand”.

Lastly, you have to know the reason why clients or customers wants your product or service.

You do not only want your clients or customers to come back but you also want them to recommend what you offer therefor you have to make their experience unforgettable.

Process

If you decide to go on a holiday the first thing you do is to prepare for it. The same for sales. You must be prepared for the sale therefor knowing what to do is vital. It is the steps you need to take from the beginning to the end.

The sales process includes the following;

How to approach the client or customer
How to discover the needs
Providing a solution
Close the deal
Complete the transaction (paying and delivering)
Follow up where possible

If you know the sales process for your offering it not only save you time but it will also help to achieve that success.

I can write books on the sales process but businesses differ and with each sale or transaction you will learn. That is the beauty of sales, it is never boring.

In closure to today’s lesson, it is not important what you sell but how you show care in what you are selling!

Thanks for sharing such an informative post. Many today last sales strategy most especially in business that's why some of their businesses don't last. Many don't really make sales a day because of their inability to strategize and convince customer or potential buyers. This post has made us know ways and how. I'll surely get to the assignment...
