in Steem Kids & Parents3 years ago (edited)

Hello lovers of kids all over the world. I want to appreciate our dearest @steemkids coordinators for this wonderful contest and the opportunity to learn from others while we share our views.
Special thanks to @ngeonyi and @peachyladiva for their tireless efforts in running this community. God bless you.

Introduction :
Discipline is an act of systematic method of correction, guidance, training or punishment impose on a child.
There is a saying that says "a tree that is not bent while tender cannot be bent when it becomes big and mature". Therefore, children must be disciplined in order to correct the foolishness in them, guide them on the right path, train them to become reasonable and punish them when they misbehave to inculcate morals in them as they grow.

I am a lover of kids but that does not stop me from disciplining them. Everywhere I go, children love to rally round me yet I don't spare them when they misbehave. The Holy Books says you spare the rod and spoil the child and I wouldn't want any child to spoil under my watch.
Moreover, only those who love and care for you will discipline and correct you.

🚻 I don't have children of my own but God has blessed me with children everywhere I go.
My nibblings, children from friends and colleagues surround me anytime they see me.
Therefore, any child who happens to come around me undergoes my training and I am currently living with my brother and his family, so, I can say I am training 2 girls.

🚻 There are several ways to train up a child and every offense has its kind of discipline according to the age of the child.
However, some types of discipline include :
☑️ the use of cane
☑️ punishment such as kneeling down, frog jump, standing still, closing of the eyes, etc
☑️ depriving something or going somewhere
☑️ heart to heart talk
☑️ you can also use the word of God to teach them lessons

🚻 No, you must not beat up a child to discipline him/her.
There are offenses that doesn't call for beating no matter how grievous it is. And there is a certain age where a child doesn't need beating to correct him/her.
Notwithstanding, in the cause of disciplining a child, we shouldn't instill fear in them.
An African proverb says "when you beat up a child with the right hand, you draw him back with the left hand ".

🚻 I am the last born, therefore, I didn't receive the beating my older ones received.
I was disciplined through heart to heart talks as my older ones were used as an example to me.

In conclusion, I want advice caregivers never to relent in disciplining whoever is under their care.
And discipline should come with love.
Lastly, I want to round up with a story my father once told me about a child who was never disciplined by the mother and she forbade anyone from correcting the child. Well, the child grew up and became a notorious armed robber and assassin. He was caught and sentenced to death but he requested to see his mother before dying and his wish was granted. He bits the mother's ears and told her she was his doom because she never corrected him when she had the chance.
My opinion is that parents and caregivers ought to discipline whosoever is under their care. Thanks.

Special appreciation goes to @ngeonyi, @goodybest, @meymeyshop, @focusnow, @eliany, @whitestallion and @bright-obias

I want to invite @ijelady, @ritatitus and @yakspeace to come share their views
