How do parents influence our lives?

The influence of Parents in our lives are numerous and it cannot be overemphasized, same of their influence are below:

Children self esteem development, how the form relationship, emotional management and the first emotional bonds they have if often influenced by their parents. Parents also instill core values, morals, and cultural beliefs that guide the behavior and decisions of children from childhood and all through life.

Children often mirror their parents’ behaviors, how they manage stress, their communication with others, and how their parents treat others usually have a lasting impact on their children. As children interact with their parents daily, they get to learn how to interact with others, how to share, empathize, and resolve conflicts from their parents.

In summary, parents are the ones who help form the foundation of who their children turns out to be, both emotionally, socially, intellectually, psychologically and morally.

What are the responsibilities and duties of parents towards their children?

Parents have a lot of responsibilities and duties toward their children which is very crucial for their children well-being and development. They includes:

Parents are responsible for the Provision of their children's basic Needs. Ensuring their children eat balance diet, ensure the children have shelter, clothing, and healthcare etc.

It's also the duty of parents to give their children the maximum support they need in their education by encouraging school attendance, paying of school fees, helping them out with their assignments, and promoting intellectual growth.

Showing the children love, affection, and offering a safe space for children to express themselves, teaching them right from wrong, teaching them morals and values such as honesty, kindness, and respect etc are all responsibilities of the parents.

Setting clear rules, boundaries and educating the children on the consequences of crossing those boundaries or violating the rules help children understand responsibility and self-control is also the responsibility of parents.

Lastly,,, Ensuring their children are safe and protected from physical, emotional, or environmental harm is the duty of the parents. These responsibilities in turn will help the children to grow into responsible adults.

How should we behave towards parents?

There are differs ways in which we should behave towards our parents,, some of these ways are:

Obeying and respecting our parents by listening to them, valuing their opinions, and ensuring we follow their guidance, especially when it is for our good.

Show sincere appreciation and gratitude for their sacrifices, care, and efforts in raising us. By simply saying "thank you" to our parents can mean alot. Also, Speaking to our parents gently, respectfully and treating them with compassion, especially as they grow older and will be in need of support more.

Helping them with daily tasks, taking care of their needs, and always being there for them emotionally and physically etc. Spending quality time with our parents by listening to their stories, having heart to heart conversation with them about our life make them feel valued.

How has the role of parents changed in today's society?

Parenting today has evolved significantly compared to the past. Traditional roles, where fathers are the ones who go to work and the mothers are always at home, are gradually shifting, that is if it hasn't shifted completely. Now, both parents often share responsibilities at home and in raising children.

With double-income in the households now, work and family life balancing is now a key challenge in the family. At the same time, technology has introduced new parenting duties, like managing screen time and ensuring online safety, this have negative effects on the role of parents.

Today’s parents needs to be more flexible, supportive, and emotionally aware of their children's needs and strive hard to meet those needs of children in a fast-changing world.
