Greetings everyone. It is my pleasure to participate in this wonderful contest. I will be writing a fictional story about a kid called Nelly.

Nelly is an adorable 8 year old kid. She is loved by many. Her parents cherish her and her teachers in school adore her. She is loved by her classmates and other students.

One of the things people love about Nelly is her honesty. She doesn't tell lies. She can't deceive people. She comes clean and tells people the truth even when she will get in trouble for it.
In addition to her honesty, she is also very smart and intelligent. Her teachers in school love her for that. She aces her tests and exams all the time.

On a faithful Monday morning at school, something happened.

Everyone was to assemble at the general assembly hall. Students were rushing to leave the class for the assembly hall because going late would attract a penalty. Nelly was also in a hurry to go to the assembly when she noticed that she wasn't with her notebook. Despite the fact that she was the only left, she went back to class to get it.

She searched her bag thoroughly before she eventually found it. Then she headed for the assembly.

After the assembly, Mrs Jonathan, a teacher at the school began searching for the money she kept in her purse. She had taught Nelly's class just before the assembly and she forgot her purse in the class. It was now obvious that someone had stolen the money since no one claimed to have seen or have custody of the money. Mrs Jonathan instructed that every student and their bags should be searched.

Surprisingly, the money was found in Nelly's bag. Everyone was shocked, but no one was more shocked than Nelly herself. Mrs Jonathan could not believe it. She did not want to believe it. "How could Nelly do this ?" She asked herself. The evidence was glaring enough. Coupled with the fact that some persons saw Nelly leaving the class last, it was more convincing that Nelly was the one who stole it.

Nelly could not comprehend what was going on. She knew she didn't take the money, and when she searched her bag to check for her notebook earlier, she didn't see any money. She kept asking herself how the money ended up in her bag. It was now clear to her that she has been framed. She tried to explain that she didn't taking it and someone is trying to frame her, but no one believed her.

The issue was taken to the school authorities. Mr James, the principal also could not believe it. Nelly is a good, honest girl who rarely did anything bad or broke any rule. Mr James knew Nelly would be expelled from the school for what she is being accused of. He decided to believe her and give her the benefit of the doubt. He didn't conclude that Nelly was the one who stole the money despite the glaring evidence because he knew who Nelly was and what she was and was not capable of it.
He decided to handle the case by himself.
Nelly's parents were notified of what had happened and were invited to school the next day. Her parents refused to believe that their child did such a thing. They trained her well enough. They insisted that the school should get to the bottom of it.

Andrew was Nelly's classmate and friend. He knew who framed Nelly up. It was Sandra!
Andrew watched Sandra as she sneaked into the classroom when everyone was at the assembly. He followed her quietly, and saw her taking Mrs Jonathan's money from her purse and putting it inside Nelly's bag.
Sandra had always been envious of Nelly. She was envious of how much everyone loved Nelly. She had a grudge against Nelly because Nelly reported her for breaking the school rules.

Andrew knew that Nelly was about to be wrongly expelled for something she had no idea about. He didn't say anything initially because he didn't want to get involved in this case in any way. He was a shy kid. However, his conscience couldn't let him keep quiet any longer and he reported what he knew to Principal James.

Mr James immediately invited Sandra to his office. He knew Sandra would try to deny doing anything. She was a stubborn kid, but he knew how to handle stubborn kids.
Mr James put a lot of pressure on Sandra and she had no choice but to confess what she did. The entire school heard about Sandra's involvement. They were relieved that Nelly was proven innocent.

Sandra was expelled from the school to serve as a deterrent to everyone.
Nelly's parents were more proud of their kid because she stood her ground ad insisted she didn't do it.

Principal James and Nelly's parents never stopped believing in Nelly because she was always honest. This proves the fact that honesty is the best policy

Moral lesson from the story

  1. When you're true and honest with people, they will stand with you in times of accusations. They will believe you even though evidence says otherwise.

  2. Always be on your best behavior. It will earn you the love and trust of those around you.

  3. Never be in a haste to judge someone.

  4. Always stand your ground.

I am inviting @ugochukwuprosper, @sahmie and @yakspeace to participate in this contest.
