war too many tribal and ethical wars from time to time to reduce the growth and development of Nigeria
leadership
The persistently bad leadership from the Nigerian government has made things extremely difficult for its citizens, thereby making a lot of talented and skilled individuals leave the country and making the country not grow.
Culture and tradition
Some cultures in Nigeria allow early marriage. Some girls marry between the ages of 17 and 18, and before you know it, they have populated every place with children that they cannot take care of.
Health
In Nigeria today, many families suffer from malaria, and they don't even have the money to treat themselves in a very good hospital, most of whom end up dying.
Lack of family planning
Most Nigerians are ignorant of family planning; they don't know when to stop giving birth. Most of us don't even believe in going to the hospital; they give birth and overpopulate the country with children.

I think underpopulation is better because there won't be too much rush or high demand for goods and services, thereby leading to a high cost of living, but in a situation where there is overpopulation, the cost of living will be less, social and economic activities provided by the government will be enough for its citizens, and they will be easy to check and maintain.
