House chores is one thing that is inevitable in every home. It is as important as food, clothing and shelter for the family. It is something most people enjoy doing while others do not like to hear about. Some feel that it is a burden and so stressful while others have a completely different view about it.

This weeks contest in steem kids and parents entitled My Perception About House Chores is all about chores.

I will be using the contest tips as a guide in exploring this topic.

What does House Chores mean and what is your perception about it (do you enjoy it or not, tell us)

House chores is a way every household is managed. It simply means doing things that benefits the family. It involves cleaning, sweeping, cooking, ironing, shopping and any other task done at home to keep the household running and ensure it's cleanliness and smooth running.

It is an integral part of life and constitutes part of the responsibilities and obligations we have as individuals.

Provided we live in a house or have home, it is a must do.

I love engaging in house chores and I was trained by my parents and all that I lived with to do that. It is just that not all the house chores are loved by me. Those details would come later as I continue in this writeup. But note that house chores involves discipline and humility to be able to carry it out.

What is included in the house chores that is done in your house?

° Picking up your shoes from under the table and stacking them neatly.

° Removing all the glass cups and taking them to the kitchen

° Making your bed after sleeping and waking up.

° Arranging scattered cloths in the room by putting them in a laundry basket, if they are to be washed or stacking them neatly into the wardrobe.

° Ironing and pressing our cloths to make them neat and tidy.

° washing our cloths either manually or with the laundry machine.

° Sweeping the rooms and removing the cobwebs hanging all over the room.

° Dusting and cleaning the chairs, tables and other furnitures in the house.

° Dusting and cleaning the windows and doors we have in the house.

° washing and cleaning of the dishes.

° Mop the house floor with water and cleaning agents regularly.

° always clean the counter tops in the kitchen. So that crumbs of food will not stick and attract unnecessary insects.

° Cleaning of the stove top, cooking gas tops and the nobs to be free of any food particles that smeared it.

° shopping, cooking and serving foods

° running other errands

In fact, the list is endless. I cannot list all of them right now.

	doing the dishes
	food prepared for the family
	washing bitter leaf
	weeding the environment
	clothes washed
	mopping the floor

Which of them do you enjoy doing and how do you do them.

I enjoy doing almost all the ones I listed out above. I enjoy sweeping, dusting, moping and cleaning the counter tops after cooking, cooking, and others.

I hate stepping on sand in my room, so I ensure I sweep the room and clean it every morning. Any other time, that I feel the room is sandy, I sweep it off immediately. I remove the cobwebs too and dust the areas that requires that. Moping is done at least once in a week or it might be more especially at this time that we have entered harmattan season.

I also ensure that I clean the kitchen counter tops and declutter it immediately after cooking. This helps to inhibit the growth of bacteria which can cause illness to us.

Cleaning the top of the cooking gas burners and top is also done as the first thing before lighting it. By doing this, I remove any food smear from the last food cooked if I didn't do that after preparing the previous meal.

These are just some of the ways that I do them.

I make use of my homemade liquid soap, disinfectant, water and sponge where necessary.

Why is house chores so important to you and the family

House chores are just part of life. Just like we bath ourselves to clean up the body and look good, likewise, house chores also makes us look good too.

It makes our surroundings and environments look clean and neat which tells a lot about us to others regarding cleanliness. Remember that it is said that cleanliness is next to Godliness.

It protects us from deadly and harmful diseases, thus elongating our lives In the process.

It is a way of teaching children to be responsible and to take good care of what belongs to them. By doing so, our children learn many wonderful qualities that they should exhibit within the family and outside.

Engaging in house chores as a family binds them together, improving the family's interpersonal relationships.

It provides an opportunity for the parents to teach their fundamental principles in life in a practical ways and how to go about them.

Your advice to kids about house chores

My advice to kids is that they should take house chores very serious. It is a way of training them for what is to come on the future. Some of the qualities learned while engaging in house chores cannot be taught or learnt elsewhere.

So they should take it as important as anything else.

When I was a kid, I didn't really like doing the dishes but it is inevitable. But as I kept doing it and understood the importance, I love doing it now more than any other thing. Hence, by doing the dishes, I teach my kids to love it to. So, kids, try to do the dishes or other household chores even when you don't like them. You might be alone someday and it becomes inevitable. The earlier the best for you.
