EGYPT THE GREAT CIVILIZATION

Ancient Egypt is synonymous to man's advancement from the simple to the complex way of life. Ancient Egypt covers and mirrors over six thousand years of mankind's relentless match towards social, economic and technological perfection. It is most interesting that the vestiges of these monumental achievements made by the ancient Egyptians still live with us even till this day.

It is said, that Egypt is a gift of the Nile starting from the rule of the great pharaohs to the powerful domination of Egypt by the great ptolemys to the rule of the queens known as cleopatras. Egypt stood both as a monument and a testament of what man can achieve if he cultivates the will and uses the available resources.

If we believe completely in the biblical account, of the book of Genesis we no doubt infer that Egypt fed the world at a point and this she was able to achieve by properly utilizing the Nile. We can selfly say that other subsequent civilizations burrowed a lot from Ancient Egyptian civilization especially in learning. When the Macedonian forces led by Alexander swept into Egypt, Alexander the great conqueror built a city and named it Alexandria. Alexandria today,3000 years after Alexander is still a great flourishing city and center of learning

LEGACIES OF ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CIVILIZATION

Many forms of technological advancement perfected by the Ancient Egyptian are today still been used in our modern day life examples are

They are the first people to draw water from the Nile into their farmlands in order to make their crops grow, this they did by channelling water from the Nile river to a complicated and highly organized process of building dams and dykes which cause water to run in this channelled process into their farms that are hundreds of miles away. Irrigation as we learnt from the ancient Egyptians is still very much in used today in modern agriculture.

The Ancient Egyptians were the first people to write on paper and this feat was achieved by crushing papyros wood and moulding it into paper. Today in modern wriring paper is extensively used, thanks to the Ancient Egyptians.

The ancient Egyptians elevated mathematics almost to a cult. It was their knowledge of mathematics that helped them designed their great pyramids with great precision. Their scientists and engineers like Imhotep developed a system of calculation that enabled them transport heavy loads like rocks from their source to construction sites and no wonder the pyramids of Gize after six thousand years is still a beautiful site to behold.

Conclusion
