Juvenile Delinquency: Definition , Causes and. Consequences
Today we are living in the era where kids indulge in different forms of crimes, some are victims of circumstances while others were misled by there peers who deliberately carry out criminal activities. From the world's point of view, this kids are too young to indulge in such act and thus the crime is termed "Juvenile Delinquency".
DEFINITION
Juvenile delinquency refers to property destruction and other criminal behavior committed by young people who are not yet of legal age to be considered adults.
In this case a minor child involves in illegal behavior or activities, typically between the ages of 10 and 17.
Juvenile delinquency also refers to children who engage in persistent misbehaviour or disobedience to the point where they are no longer under parental control and are subject to legal action by the courts.
Juvenile crimes includes , minor in possession of arms, robbery, rape, murder, and any other crime that can be committed by an adult are all examples of juvenile crimes. Juvenile law can be used to punish those under the age of 18 who commit these crimes.
TYPES OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY
Individual Delinquency
This is delinquency in which only one person is involved in committing a criminal act, and the cause of the delinquent act is found within the individual delinquent.Group Supported Delinquency
Delinquencies are committed in this type in the company of others, and the cause is found not in the individual's personality or in the delinquent's family, but in the culture of the individual's home and neighborhood.
- Organised Delinquency
This concept refers to a set of values and norms that guide group members' behaviour, encourage delinquency, award status based on such acts, and define typical relationships for people who fail outside of the groupings governed by group norms.
*THE CAUSES OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY
There are numerous factors that could lure a juvenile into committing crime.
- POOR HOME/MORAL UPBRINGING
This has to do with the way that child was raised and his immediate surroundings.
Here the family plays a major in the life of a child, as we all know, children learn faster by what they see. The lifestyle and values of his parents and siblings are what this child will want to emulate.
If the family are the quarrelsome type, that child can easily follow suit and may end up becoming a bully at school.
- POVERTY AND INDISCIPLINE
A family maybe poor yet very disciplined, they parents work hard to provide for their kids and encourage them to take their studies serious and afterwards giving them a skill. Conversely, in a Poor and Indisciplined home reverse is the case, the kids work hard to provide for their parents and siblings, in a bid to make ends meet they will start engaging in criminal activities like ritual killing, robbery and prostitutions for the female.
- PEER GROUPS
Some kids Allow there peers influence their decision. Truth be told, our associates have a strong hold on us (grownups as well as teens), bad communication corrupts good manners indeed.
When kids start making friends with corrupt fellows, they start imitating those criminal lifestyle these one exhibit like taking hard drugs, stealing and may be initiated into a secret cult.
Parents can help by knowing the kind of friendship their child keeps and should invite them home sometimes.
WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY?
- A juvenile delinquent is a bad egg in the society
- You damage the reputation of your family
- Only touts and wayward people will be your friend.
- It is difficult to get a job because of your past criminal records.
- Your crime may land you in prison or rehabilitation center
Are The Kids In Your Area involved in Them?
Yes, kids in my area are badly effected. Kids below seventh now wants to be richer than Dangote, as a result they have engaged in ritual killing and selling of human parts.
Smoking and drug abuse is now done in the open and being Occultist is now a thing of pride.
The mediocrity of this 1Timothy children is appalling.

It's very sad that the kids get involved in such shameful acts, they cause much damage in the community. I hope that it gets much better someday and the juveniles learn their lessons
