A Tribute to Parents
Parents are the foundation of our lives. From birth, they play a crucial role in shaping who we become. They are not just caregivers they are teachers, providers, role models, and our first source of love.
How do parents influence our lives?
Their influence is lifelong. Take for example my friend Michael, whose mother always encouraged him to read books instead of playing outside all day.
Today, he’s a schoolteacher with a deep love for learning all thanks to his mother’s early guidance.
Similarly, I’ve seen families where fathers wake up early to work long hours just to pay for their child’s education. These acts of sacrifice mold us silently.
What are the responsibilities and duties of parents?
It’s more than providing food or clothes. Parents should build their children's confidence, teach them right from wrong, and prepare them for the world.
My neighbor, a single mother, works two jobs yet still finds time to help her son with homework every night. That’s dedication a true duty of care.
How should we behave towards our parents?
With love, respect, and patience. Sadly, some children forget their parents when they grow up.
But I admire my cousin who, after getting a job in the city, brings his parents to visit the doctor monthly and makes sure they are cared for. That is how we should treat those who sacrificed everything for us.
How has the role of parents changed in today’s society?
Today’s parents are balancing work, stress, and technology. Many now raise children in fast-paced urban settings, facing challenges like peer pressure and social media. Despite all that, they continue to love and support us.
My own parents may not understand the internet well, but they still ask about my studies, my friends, and my dreams. That’s love, pure and simple.
Parents are irreplaceable. Let us honor them not just with words, but with our actions by showing appreciation, care, and love every day.
