INTRODUCTION

In a civilized world theres room for discipline. For discipline gives birth to a responsible and effective society. Without discipline, im sad to say the society and the world at large wouldnt have been where it is today.
In this contest edition, the keyword Discipline is used in the communities contest as a keyword to show its importance.

DEFINITION

Discipline is simply the process by which a child (according to the community guidelines) is corrected when he or she goes wrong. In another format, it is described as the correction of a child using means to show that the child has erred from his or her good moral conduct. Take for instance when a child decides to go astray and takes what does not belong to him or her, disciplining the child could be that you either different procedures to show the child that he or she haa commited an offence.

FORMS IN WHICH IT TAKES PLACE IN MY COMMUNITY

Well since its limited to my community, I'll love to say that im proudly an African and here in Africa, Nigeria to be precise, discipline comes in many forms.
Okay I will like to start with the fact that discipline in Nigeria didnt just start today, it has been in inception right from time and over the years it has grown to be an effective tool in community building and conduits.
Forms inwhich they take place include;

1. Use of a correcting agent such as the beating the child with a wooden rod. Otherwise called "Ikpa" in my dialect (native language of Ibibio).

2. Depriving the child of some certain goodies. Ill take for an instance when a child does wrong, the parents might want to not give some things they child will always need to the child so as to teach the child a lesson.

3. Another is sitting the child down and talking sense into the child. Sometimes it could be a long list of agenda to talk about.

WHAT GIVES RISE TO DISCIPLINE

I dont believe discipline comes without something intriguing it to. What gives rise to discipline is simple. Discipline comes when there's need for it. Whenever a child commits an offence that is when theres need for discipline.

HOW KIDS RESPOND TO DISCIPLINE

Kids over here are trained to adapt to discipline and as a matter of fact whenever they are disciplined, they learn to take note and learn their lesson.
Not condemning the fact that there are other children that do not respond positively to discipline. Also I want to add that how a child responds to discipline is if the child had a good early parenting. This fact applies to all children.

WHAT IS THE BEST FORM OF DISCIPLINE TO BE GIVEN TO A CHILD

Ill link it to the scripture, even the Bilble says spare the child and spoil the child. Due to my tradition and custom, it is better to beat the child with a cain or wooden stick (otherwise refered to as rod). Its the best form of discipline to be given to a child.

IMPORTANCE OF DISCIPLINE

• Discipline is very essential in a child's life as it helps a child grows good moral conducts.

• Its guides a child on how to relate in the world of today.

• Without discipline, economic and societal growth is dimmed.

• Increased crime rates to as a result of lack of some certain attainable virtues etc.

RIGHT MOTIVE BEHIND DISCIPLINE

Discipline should be done out of love. The main aim of discipline is to foster love in that child and teach him or her to be a good fellow. It shouldnt be done with wicked intentions. Every child disciplined should know why he or she was disciplined.
