EPILOGUE

This short story tells how a best friend betrayed the other because of the love he had for money. It is pertinent that we know who we call our friends as some of them could be wolves in sheep clothing's. This is to enlighten the kids on who they call their friends.

STORY

Mike Jones and Lawry Oakwood have been friends since their childhood and did many things in common. Infact their parents too were childhood friends who grew up together in the neighborhood. Mike's house was just a stone throw from Lawry's and not a day will pass without the two of them seeing their selves.
Mike's parents were respected businessmen and trader respectively. Lawry's father was a little lawyer while his mom was a doctor.
Although Mike never had any siblings, he took refuge in his friend Lawry who was like a brother to him. They literally ate in the same place and slept on the same bed whenever Mike goes for sleep over. This was how close they were to each other.

When they were the age of starting high school, Lawry's parents sent Lawry to one of the best universities in the state and extended an arm to pay part of Mike's school fees just for them to be together in the same University. Mike's parents in their own wouldn't be able to afford the school fees of their son there so Lawry had to tell his parents to help Mike by paying a certain percentage of the school fees.

Lawry's parents never made it look like they were they one paying a greater percentage of Mike's school fees since Mike's parents couldn't afford the school tuition fees. Mike's parents who were always favoured thanked Mr and Mrs Oakwood for always being there for them when they needed them and promised to repay the favor in due season.

So Mike and Lawry had a great time in school and both finished with a 2.1 degree in their respective courses.
Mike finished in Electrical Engineering while Lawry finished as a Petroleum Engineer. The duo finished and were celebrated by there parents for completing their task.
Due to their outstanding performances, they were honoured by the school and immediately, Exxon Mobil oil company asked them to come for interviews so as to be gainfully employed.

A month to the interview came and the two chaps were preparing vigorously for the interview when all of a sudden, Lawry's parents lost their lives in a plane crash while they were on a business trip to London. On hearing the sad news, Lawry broke down in tears and started weeping profusely for them. Mike too on hearing cried out with a loud voice.

The news came to the ears of Mike's parents and they decided to be the father and mother to Lawry as his parents had done to their son. They took Lawry as one of their sons and provided for him till the day of their fixed interview.

It was on a Tuesday morning when they received a reminder call that they were to be present at the meeting the next day.
Prior to the next day, Wednesday morning, Lawry fell very ill and opted for Mike to plead on his behalf. On getting there, there were given the preamble on how the process will be like and the salary they were to receive.
Names were called in order and people were taken to their respective rooms for the interview. It got to Lawry's turn and he wasn't present. Instead of Mike to explain the situation on ground, out of greed and discontentment, he didn't say a thing. That was how Lowry lost the appointment in the company.
On hearing that Mike didn't explain what happened there, Lawry swore never to speak to Mike again till he dies.
