Social problems are situations or activities that can momentarily disrupt or permanently damage a society and it's people.
They are also said to be undesirable conditions or behavioural patterns in the society that needs to be addressed.

For an issue to qualify as a social problem, it must have injurious consequences on the society, affecting the society as a whole and often needs collective effort to solve them.

The spread of HIV/AIDS as a social problem deserves a category of it's own, it has risen and qualify to be described as a pandemic. HIV which stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a disease condition that attacks and destroys the immune system of a person, reducing the persons ability to fight off diseases/unfriendly bacteria or virus.

If this condition is not properly treated, it progresses to a worst stage known as AIDS which stands for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome. At this stage of the disease, the immune system is totally deficient making the person vulnerable to all infectious disease such that even minor infections can have terrible impacts on the person.

Most sufferers get HIV through sexual activities others got infected due to sharing of infected needles, syringes, or other body piercing materials. This is so because the disease is spread through contact with body fluids from an infected person.
