Attending the Aceh Traditional Wedding Party

Yesterday, on holiday I attended my cousin's wedding which was very beautifully organized. Consisting of an aisle decorated with flowers and carved aceh doors. Furthermore, the tents are decorated with cloth which is very beautiful in color. The event had been prepared in advance by our family so that the event could take place well without any obstacles. But the rain that happened that day was also very heavy from morning to afternoon.

However, the event must continue because all the invited guests have received invitations. It rained very hard from early in the morning until 09.00 am. Furthermore, it was not too heavy just a cloudy drizzle. Early in the morning I arrived at my cousin's place, even though it was raining but I also had to go to help there what I could help. At 09.30 the guests have started to arrive. Incidentally, I got an assignment at the table for the invited guests. Immediately, I invited guests to go to the dining table that had been provided by the bride's family.

Although it is a little muddy, it can be controlled because it has been carved with wood on the muddy soil. All of our families work to help according to their respective duties. The rain continued to fall but the guests did not stop coming, all of this to enliven and pray for the bride and groom so that their household could become a prosperous family. It is customary for us Acehnese to hold a "preh linto Baro" wedding with the aim of introducing the husbands of the daughters of the family and to pray for their domestic life.

The guests who come are those who live in the village and other invited guests who are invited even though they are far from the village. It was time for lunch, "linto baroe" arrived at the bride's residence with a group and accompanied by prayers to the prophet. This shalawat is also one of the customs in the form of praying to the prophet to be given mercy in fostering a household. The groom's entourage was well received by the bride's family and was greeted with a banquet in the house.

This is to prove that the group that came was well received by the family. After the group entered the house which had been served food to be enjoyed. Some guests who do not fit in the house are directed under the dining table tent. The two brides looked very happy as they enjoyed their lunch. The bride and groom wear traditional Acehnese clothes with the groom using the sword "rencong" and "songget" as well as the bride using "edit" and "songket cloth".

Aceh traditional clothes look very beautiful with symbolic symbols of the province of Aceh. After the bride and groom have finished eating, a "peusijuk" event will be held. This is a prayer also to bless the household. This "Peusijuk" has become a custom of the Acehnese. Without a hint, a bride is considered bad. Then after that the bride and groom were taken out of the house and directed to sit on a very beautiful aisle. So that everyone can see a very beautiful and handsome bride. Even though the atmosphere was still raining, the event continued smoothly and well coupled with the sound of music to give the impression of a happy atmosphere today for the bride and groom.

The "preh linto" and "tueng dara baro" events were held after the marriage ceremony. "Preh Linto Baro" from "Linto Baro" had to bring offerings ranging from clothes, toiletries, cosmetics, sandals, bags, and prayer equipment and also "Linto Baro" brought cakes typical of Aceh, namely "dodol, meuseukat, bubajek" , and other pastries. Later, during the "tueng dara baro" event, the bride also brought gifts of cake and "bate Ranup" to prove that "dara Baro" had been properly handed over to the groom. Later at "linto Baroe" at the tueng dara baro, there will be a "peut campli" event to introduce the extended family of the groom to the bride.
