@NGOENYI CONTEST#13- YOUR FAVORITE CHILDHOOD STORY AND THE LESSONS//
Greetings everyone,
I extend my gratitude to @ngoenyi and @steemkidss for this nice contest. It has given me a chance to remember stories my grandma used to tell me when I was still young. I listened to very many stories but my favorite is the one I am going to tell.
My favorite childhood story
source
Once upon a time, there lived a family of five children. One girl and four boys. They started with their parents who always sent them to collect firewood from the haunted forest. These children were always told not to split up in the forest so that they don’t get lost.
Once anyone lost their way in the forest, they were told o put a spittle of saliva on their palms and use the first two fingers to hit it, it was believed that the direction the saliva splashed in was the right way.
In the forest, there was a very beautiful looking tree just in the middle. Whenever the children went to collect firewood, the girl would admire this tree. She loved touching it and praising its beauty. One day on the firewood hunt, the girl made a wish that if the tree was a human being, she would be married to it. after her wish, she went home with her brothers but there was a change in the weather. He following day, a man wearing back cloth went to this girls home and told her parents that he has come for the girl. He claimed she wished to get married to him. The girl started denying and the man reminded her of the wish she made at the tree. This man was the nice looking tree. He was a demon and so he took the girl while she was in tears but could not take back the wish she made in the middle of the haunted forest. This is the end of my story.
Lessons I learnt
• All that glitters is not gold
I learnt that not every nice looking object or person is perfect. The girl admired a tree that was a demon in real sense and ended up getting married to a demon. It is not good to admire things through their appearance but rather giving it more time to know if what you admire is good in real sense.
• Never to judge a book by its cover.
I learnt that it is not right to judge people just by looking at them. You have to go ahead and know much more about a person then make a judgment so as to avoid making mistakes.
Who told me this story
This story was told to me by my grandmother when I was still young. I was around 10 years by then. I was staying with her because my parents had traveled to Nairobi. She always told me stories in the evening before we slept off. I shared a room with her so we had a lot of time to talk and tell stories everyday.
I invite my friends @shadia931, @quanbriel and @mutzsimon to take part.
Thanks for the invite
