What is the ip address?
A collection of special numbers make up an IP address. The service provider purchases and resells these addresses to customers after the Internet Corporation IANA generates and distributes them. The network's devices, websites, and practically everything else in cyberspace all use these addresses to communicate.
No device can access the Internet without obtaining an IP address because it is regarded as the Internet's electronic fingerprint, or, to put it another way, it is the key to the World Wide Web.
What advantages and disadvantages does an IP address have?

Types of IP addresses
Devices have two addresses: one that is private within the network and one that is visible to others outside the network. The types of IP addresses can differ between devices, locations, and networks.
Internal IP
The modem (routers), which includes computers, phones, smart screens, and IoT devices in general, needs a way to identify these components of the network individually and may also assert the requirement for devices to communicate with one another as in businesses. This type is also known as private addresses. As a result, the router assigns a unique address to each connected device on the network in order to differentiate them from other devices. This address typically ranges from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.255, with certain routers allowing for a different modem address.
External IP
In contrast to the internal IP created by the modem, the service provider gives the devices the external IP for your region. It is the address that appears in external sources on the Internet, such as visiting a website or using a social networking application, for example. Its name is also the public IP address, and it differs from device to device around the world and no device can agree with the same public address.
The two types of external IP addresses are dynamic and static, with static being utilized mainly with very big websites.
Dynamic IP (variable)
The external IP address may change each time you attempt to connect to the Internet because this type of address is common on the Internet and changes automatically and frequently. This offers security as a key benefit.
Static IP address
A static IP address is one that is always used, as opposed to a dynamic one, and is typically associated with the websites of large corporations to prevent errors brought on by frequent change. This type is employed by companies that provide web hosting services and thus offers either a shared address between the hosting server, the server, and the website, or a dedicated and static address provided by the hosting party to the website.

The first, second, and third versions of IP addresses were created, but today's common Internet addresses are IPv4 and IPv6. The addressing range for the fourth IP version is from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255, and the fourth segment of each segment is separated by a dot.
Risks of detection
IP addresses can reveal your city, zip code, or area code, but not your precise location, such as your street address or the home you live in, nor can they reveal your name, phone number, or any other precise information about you. Hackers can trick you into disclosing your IP address by using social engineering techniques or by continuing to use a subpar messaging or communication service. Your IP address also reveals the geographic location of a service provider close to you.

Device addresses can also be attacked in order to deny service to the target device, just like any website that has an IP address can.
Hack your device.
Some hackers can also access your device by attempting to connect through the ports used for data transmission or by taking advantage of a vulnerability that might be present.
Keep track of your activities.
Knowing the site owners' IP addresses allows them to track you and monitor some of your activities, such as what you like, how long you stay on the sites, and other data that is sold to advertising companies.
What is my Internet Protocol (IP) address?
Simply search Google for the phrase "my IP address," and you will see many sites that show you your external address, such as "whatismyipaddress" and others, as well as another site called IPGeoLocation, which shows your geographical location based on the address on the map, your city, and the name of your Internet service provider. This information can also be obtained for another IP address simply by knowing the address.
By using a VPN, you can conceal your IP address and thus your location from the websites you visit and applications you use.
