Hello my fellow kids,

I humbly and happily submit my participation in this wonderful contest organized in this great community @steemkidss.

This contest will help to increase our knowledge as kids on child abuse and the various forms in which it appears.

Before I begin, I will love to make us understand what an abuse is.

An abuse can be explained as the improper or wrong use of something. It can also be explained as the deviation from the proper use of something.

From our above explained, we can easily coin out the meaning of child abuse.

Child abuse can be explained as the improper use or the maltreatment of a child, the deviation from the proper treatment of a child.

It can also be defined as the physical, psychological or sexual misuse of a child.
It may also include some failures on the part of the parent/guardian of a child.

All of these will be explained as we proceed.

TYPES OF CHILD ABUSE

There exists different types and forms of child abuse, you want to know them? calm down and follow along as I explain.

• Physical abuse
• Sexual abuse
• Emotional abuse
• Neglect

PHYSICAL ABUSE

Physical abuse can be explained to be the intentional use of force to harm a child, the force is usually applied with the intent of causing harm to the child.
Thus resulting in the death of the child or causing a serious threat on the life of the child.

A good example of this is hitting a child very hard, strangling a child, burning some part of the child's body In fire.

Agreed that a child is meant to be disciplined, but there's different between discipline and abuse.

By disciplining a child, a guardian/parent is trying to correct the child, but by inflicting too much pain in form of a correction can be termed an abuse.

Most times, abuse comes from a biased mind with evil intention, and such can inflict some lasting effect on the child, effects as mental disorders, depression, anxiety etc.

SEXUAL ABUSE

This is a form of child abuse in which a child is sexually exploited for the selfish satisfaction of the exploiter.

In this form of abuse, a child is forced/compelled into sexual act, most times with an older person, either for financial gain of sexual gratification of the other party.

Sexual abuse doesn't only involve forcefully engaging a child in sexual act, it also involves I the indecent exposure of the private parts of a child, or viewing the child's private parts against her will, introducing the child to pornographic contents or compelling a child to be part of a pornographic play.

The above mentioned are ways that a child can be sexually abused and this can have lasting effects on them, effects as: guilt, night mares, insomnia, self blame, etc.

EMOTIONAL ABUSE

This form of abuse can also be referred to as psychological abuse. This form of abuse is usually committed by the guardian/parents of a child.

It involves an intentional verbal act on the side of the guardian, it involves verbally abusing a child, reigning insultive words, degrading words on a child.

This form of abuse, although sounds little, have a serious impact on the life of a child.
It affect how a child will relate with the society and most times it leaves child helpless and depressed.

NEGLECT

Neglect is a form of child abuse which can be explained as failure on the part of parents to provide a child with the basic necessities of life ( food, shelter and clothing) and in some cases education and medical care.

Neglect can also be explained as lack of care and attention from the neighbors around a child and denial of the child his basic rights.

This form of abuse usually leaves a child with no other choice but to be wayward, to steal for survival and get involved in some degrading activities.

Neglect can be of various types:

• Medical neglect.
• Emotional neglect
• Educational neglect
• Physical neglect
• Supervisory neglect.

PREVENTION OF CHILD ABUSE

Child abuse of all forms can be prevented, if and only if preventive measures are taken.

• A support group structure should be created, these groups should help reinforce parenting skills to guardians

• Government can also play a role by ensuring that free education are provided for children.

• Public enlightenment program should be organized, this will help parent see the importance of good parental care on a child

• Stiff punishment should be enacted by the government on anyone caught in the act of child abuse.

CONCLUSIONS

As explained, child abuse is a very ugly act.

In my community, all explained above can be clearly seen and it is applicable to both male and female.

Females are mostly abused sexually while males are abused physically.

My solemn advise to kids of this community is that, they should be very careful of their associates, because this days, children are abused out of peer pressure or because they want to feel among.

Kids should also learn to report any attempt by older ones to abuse them, most especially sexually.
