Hello!,
Good morning to all my fellow steemians here in steem kids & kids community, I believe we all had a peaceful night rest and good schedule for today.
In my todays post I am posting about digital native and digital citizen*, this topic may sound strange to few of us. I first heard about this topic when I was in ICT ACADEMY, it sounded strange to me when I heard it.
Fortunately this topic happened to be the topic I was given for presentation, this prompt me to make research about the topic. Believe, I learn a new thing which widen my knowledge since everything now is going digitally.
Though the both has similarities, but let have some overview of their contrasts.
Let's read below...
A digital native is said to be a person who grew-up using digital devices from his/her very young age and feel comfortable using it in his/her daily live. The name digital native is used to describe people who were born in the late 2000 and above as they have been exposed and getting conversant to technology such as computers, smartphones, and also the internet from their early age.
So it is good to note that not everyone who were born during this time period is a digital native, depending on the level of their exposure and comfort with technologies.
A digital citizen is said to be a person who develops the skills and knowledge to effectively use the internet and digital technologies. They're also people who use digital technologies and the internet in appropriate and responsible ways in order to engage and participate in society and politics.
which means digital citizenship is when someone uses the internet in a safe, legal, responsible and ethical way.
All this narrative simply means being lawful when using technologies for example, understanding that it's a crime to hack or penetrating someones privacy without a legal approval, fraud, illegal downloading or cause damage to other people work.
This people have been there before the idea of technology spread, that's before the year 2000
- Informal learning: Digital natives always find it convenience and easy to learn through informal means such as online tutorials, and social media forums, example YouTube and other social media or writen tutorials from browsers, which allows them to acquire knowledge and new skills.
- Technological proficiency: Since digital natives have grown up using digital devices and other technologies, this gives them a natural understanding and proficiency in using digital tools and platforms accurately.
- Adaptability: It is clear that digital natives are fast to adapt to new technologies and are comfortable with constant changes.
- Ethical attitude: digital citizens understand the importance of digital ethics, such as respecting copyright and privacy rights.
- Online reputations: Digital citizens are careful of each activities they perform online so as not to guilt theirs reputation and meaning they take measures to maintain a positive digital reputation.
- Online safety: Digital citizens are aware of the risk involved using digital devices, so they practice safe and responsible online behavior so as to protect them and their personal information online.

Digital natives have a natural linking for technology due to their early knowledge about digital live. while digital citizens refers to those who actively participate in the digital world while practicing ethical digital behaviours.
They both are important in today live, as they provide how individuals should use the technology and contribute to the digital lifestyle.
