Importance Of Education In National Development
Education plays a crucial role in the national development of a country, contributing to economic growth, meeting basic needs, and promoting political participation. Education is a process of teaching, learning, training, acquiring knowledge and skills. It is highly important to any nation's development and growth. Any uneducated nation is like a decayed nation. Education is also the brainchild of technological discoveries, development and advancement, inventions like phones, computers, cars, aircraft are of shoot of thirst for knowledge and increase in education.
Also, education has brought development in the area of communication and health. Nigeria for example received a major economic boost with the advent of telecommunications during the tenure of President Olusegun Obasanjo. Nigeria started to make use of telephones. Now, over 100 million of Nigerians are mobile. Also, scientific research has it that education has brought limelight cures to terminal illnesses and diseases.
Education has globally made Nigeria to become economically prosperous due to the discovery of oil in her soil. It wouldn't have been possible to discover that without the invention and contribution of education. In addition, the importance of education to the development of a nation cannot be over emphasized as it cut across all sectors like health, technology, security, agriculture, finance, etc.
