Hi friends.. How are you fairing? Trust you've been good.. Am fine too. It's another week of the writing expedition, and today I will be discussing a very crucial topic with you about the high prices of food stuffs and other things in my country. Just read on;
Escalating Prices Of Food Stuffs In Nigeria
For people living in Nigeria, they can testify that the high prices of food stuffs and other things is getting out of hand. So, I wish to bring to your notice the citizens are outerly against the escalating prices of food stuffs in Nigeria. The increase in the prices of goods has left many families hungry and unhappy. A number one factor responsible for this is one of which is the number of farmer nowadays. Many people have drifted from farming because they no longer find it attractive. They prefer seeking for white collar jobs, and as a result of this, the few farmers we have cannot readily satisfy the needs of the masses and this leads to the hike of prices of food stuffs at their own will.
Moreso, the farmers available mostly practice subsistence agriculture. They do not have the equipments necessary to practice commercial agriculture. Therefore, when they consider the stress they have undergone to cultivate and harvest the crops, they increases the prices of food stuffs. Again, weather and temperature also affects the prices of goods. All crops are affected by weather during the growing season. If the season is too wet, dry cold or hot, crops cannot thrive.
A shortage in the production of a crop will lead to increase in prices but up crops are in excess than they reverse would be the case. Further more, transportation cost also leads to increase in prices of goods. For instance,when there is an increase in transportation cost, there will also be an increase in the prices of food stuffs. Despite all these challenges, this situation can be improved if the government are willing to use their respectable offices to help the people.
First and foremost, they should provide modern tools for the farmers that would help to increase in productivity. Also, those who intend to go into large scale farming and don't have enough capital should be granted loans. Secondly, the fertilizers and pesticides should be provided for the farmers. Pests and diseases affects the quality of food stuffs which invariably lead to the increase in the prices of goods.
In Summary, with these few points I have listed above, am sure that you have known the reason for the high prices of food stuffs. Also, I would be glad if Nigerian government look into the situation at hand and consider the suggestions I have given above in order to improve the condition of living for the people of my country.
