I also want to use this medium to congratulate the last week winners, your posts were outstanding. Today, I will be sharing with you on the evils of unemployment in my country, Nigeria. Evils Of Unemployment In My Country

Of recent, there has been alot of discussion on the issue of unemployment and its effects on the country at large. There has also been a great increase in the number of unemployed people. Below here are few highlights of its effects and ways to reduce unemployment.

A major evil in the increase of unemployment is criminality. A lot of people now see robbery, kidnapping, extortion, bribe, etc and what have as the way due to unemployment. Innocent people have lost their lives in the process. Moreover, unemployment has led to exploitation of labour, due to unemployment, laborers are being exploited. They are paid low wages and work under favorable conditions. This is common in schools within the states.

Most teachers in private school are not trained well. They are there because they really do not have a choice. Hence, their employers over work them and pay them little salaries. In addition, this leads to increase in poverty. When families are unable to cater for their basic needs, the children are sent out to hawk on the streets which thereby increase the rate of school dropouts which has adverse effects on the country. Unemployment leads to loss of human resources. If they are not properly managed, there will be decrease in economic growth.

However, these evils can be curbed by the government by providing employment opportunities for the youths through empowerment. Our youths should be trained well for self employment. Also those government parastatals that renders social services who are due for retirement should be retired so that there would be vacancies for the unemployed youths in the country.

In Summary, Nigerian government should provide empowerment for the youth, because through this the rate of corruption, bribery, kidnappings, stealing and other evil crimes will be reduced.
