Hello friends..how are you doing? Hope you and your family is doing great.. am fine too, Its another week of writing expedition and today, am sharing with you on the high rate of living in my country. Just read on;😊

THE COST OF LIVING IN NIGERIA

The cost of living in Nigeria today has risen beyond the reach of a common man. This has also affected the economic and social lives of many Nigerians. In the some parts of my country, its no longer news that people are committing suicide because of poverty and hunger. Sometimes, the rhetoric question I do ask myself is "what is the cause of the high cost of living inspite of the abundant natural resources in Nigeria?🤔" Firstly, the high cost of food items. The price of foodstuff have gone up astronomically. Especially, price of rice, beans, yams, semovita, oil, spaghetti, garri,etc have gone beyond the reach of many families.

Farmers also tie the hike to the high cost of maintaining their farm which includes pesticides, fertilizers,etc. Traders complain of increase in the transportation of goods, wares, and products. They are being charged with multiple taxation from numerous unauthorized agencies across the country.

Another point of the high cost of living is education. This has become something which is reserved for the rich. The middle classes send their children oversees while the poor masses train their children at home. In some states, many children are still studying under trees, while some sits on floor to study. This is due there is no ventilated classroom for them.

Now, having examined the high cost of living in my country, below here are few suggestions which are recommended to the government;

• In the aspect of education, the federal government should take over the educational system. Schools are meant to be well funded and standardized. In fact, primary and secondary schools levels should be made free.

• In transportation sector, government needs to take proactive actions by providing buses in all the 36 states of federation in order to disband the sufferings of the citizens.

• On the aspect of high cost of food items, Nigerian government should re-introduce the price control measures and make sure the price of food items goes down to the reach of a commoner.
