Welcome guys, it is another brown new day and I am so delighted to enlighten us on the topic Types of Computer System. A lot of persons are unaware of the various types of computer system that we have today, thanks to this article, it will broaden our understanding on the various types of Computer.

Many definitions have been given by different authors as to what they feel a Computer System is all about. We will not be dwelling on that today because that is not our topic of discussion for the day. But we will be given few definition of computer so that we will have a clear picture and understanding of our course of discussion.

A computer is an electronic device which accepts data, process the data and produce a meaningful result call information. Every computer system has to do with these key terms I.e accept data, process data and produce information. Computers get there data sent to them via an input device and it process this data using the central processing unit then finally it brings out the data as information using the output device.

In a more simpler term, we can say that a computer system is any device that makes work easier and faster. You will agree with me that they work that is initially done by 10 of persons within hours can now be done by just a person with a computer within few minutes. We can therefore conclude that a computer is a machine that helps man to perform functions faster and quicker and it is also very accurate.

In this categories, computer system is classified based on general purpose and special purpose. In essence, we can conclude that there are computer that are used for almost everything and that is why it is called general purpose computers where there are others that are design to be used for a specific purpose and hence the name special purpose computer.

Here in this category there are three different types of computer found here and these are analog, digital and hybrid computers. Analog computers deals with analog signals and the digital computes deals with digit as the name implies. They combination of the analog and digital computer is what gave rise to the hybrid computers.

In this category, computers are classified into four different groups or types and the are Mini computers, Mainframe computers, Super computers and Micro computers. The Micro computers are further classified into desktop, laptop, palm top and workstation. In this category the size of the computer is taken into consideration and hence all computer system are placed according to it's size here.

This is just the basics we need to know about the different types of computer system. I have been able to group them all in an orderly manner based on the three categories they fall.
