in Steem Kids & Parents3 years ago (edited)

Hello my wonderful friends @steemkidss community, I am excited that our favourite Grassroot crypto academy is out again and it is a great opportunity for me being able to participate in this week vol5.
Also I want to make use of this opportunity to specially appreciate our wonderful professor @fredquantum for this amazing topic this week
Which is COIN and TOKENS this topic is really an interesting topic with alot of people having false views on what are the difference between coins and token and some mistaking the both as the same thing in the crypto space.
But today we would be discussing all this in a more simple way for easier understanding.
But before I begin I would love us to stick to the @Club5050 @Club75 @Club100 rule for the betterment of the steemit community.

Explain Coins and Tokens. Differentiate between the two.

COINS
This can be described as a form of an independent digital currency that function on it own block chain and it not dependable on another blockchain . It is also a digital asset which is not a token.
Coins are also said to be decentralised currencies that enables one to make and receive transactions on a blockchain. Examples of the coins we have in the crypto ecosystem are Binance coin, Ethereum etc.

TOKENS
When we first hear the word tokens what comes to play in our mind is something of value that can be exchanged or that represents a thing .
A token in the crypto ecosystem or crypto space is an asset that operates on another cryptocurrency's blockchain, and they are majorly decentralised finance (DEFI)
These tokens help alot in making decentralised exchanges able to sell virtual items.Example of tokens we have in the cryptospace are Aave, 1inch token, Alpaca token etc that run on the ethereum and Binance smart chain blockchain respectively.

List some examples of Coins and Tokens, and their blockchains. Briefly talk about one of the assets listed earlier (Hint: its brief history, current price, circulating supply, and market capitalization).

In this section I created a table and listed down examples of coins and example of tokens.

example of coins
Moving forward here are the examples of coins with there own blockchain or native blockchain.

COINSBLOCKCHIAN
BITCOINCASHBITCOINCASH BLOCKCHAIN
MONEROMONERO BLOCKCHAIN
BIANANCE COINBIANANCE SMARTCHAIN
DASHDASH BLOCKCHAIN

These coins listed above are built , runs and functions on their respective blockchain.

Examples of tokens we have
In this section below are some examples of tokens built on another blockchain and they include

TOKENBLOCKCHAIN
ALPACABINANCE SMART CHAIN BLOCKCHIAN
TRUST WALLET TOKENBINANCE SMART CHAIN BLOCKCHAIN
KYBER NETWORKETHEREUM BLOCKCHAIN
MAkERETHEREUM BLOCKCHAIN

The tokens above runs under the ethereum and Binance smart chain blockchain and they are reffered to as erc-20 and bep-20 tokens respectively

Binance coin

The Binance coin(BNB) currently ranked 4th on coin market cap is a utility coin that runs on the Binance blockchain and it was first created around the month of July 2017 and can be used to pay fees on the Binance exchange .
Right before getting the Binance blockchain Binance firstly ran on the ethereum blickchain.
The Binance exchange is one of the biggest exchange in the crypto space and it is majorly used by alot of user because of cheaper transactions fee , the uses of the Binance coin ranges from trading ,as transaction fee,credit card payment to investment etc.

current price, circulating supply, and market capitalization).

In the previous Grassroot crypto accademy vol3 we were taught market capitalization
And from the picture which was taken by me above we all can see the current market price of the Binance coin which means the Binance coin is currently traded for $401.46 on exchanges and the circulation of Binance coin is 161,116,760 BNB from here we can calculate the market capitalization by making use of the formula below
M=Cp ×Cr

M= Market capitalization
Cp= current price
Cr= circulation supply
From this we can easily get the market capitalization as
M= 401.46×161,116,760
Therefore the market capitalization of the Binance coin is $66,288,355,993.

IN CONCLUSION
As we can see there is a lot difference between COINS and TOKENS and should not be treated as same although both are cryptoassets .

I want to specially thank everyone who took out time to go through my post
