Picnics are good for strengthening family Bondings || by @johnmitchel
INTRODUCTION
Hello friends of steem kids and parents, hope you are all having a splendid week. The steem kids and parents community is one that seeks to foster great bonding, unity, love and care between parents and kids. This contest is one that will address the need for bonding and how picnics can help to strengthen bonding between families.
Most times, life doesn't go the way it is planned out to be. Parents seek to have more time with their children. They want to talk, play, dance, exercise, eat and have a great time with their loved ones but sometimes it never actually happens.
Why Is Picnic Needed?
I have seen a family in Lagos state, Nigeria who actually never see each other the whole week days except during the weekends. The father leaves work very early by 4am and comes back late at 11pm. The kids go to school from 7am till 3pm. This kind of lifestyle means they will actually not get to see each other the whole week. Family time reduces and most times the bonding between parents and children is broken or weak.
There should be practical ways to ensure this bond is strengthen, to help the family live in great healthy relationship with each other. One of the ways these can be achieved is through picnics. A Picnic is a time out where people sit out together especially in an open field or park for the sole aim of achieving leisure and doing other recreational activities. Example of recreational activities done during picnics could be playing games, taking pictures, fishing, swimming, exercising etc. When this is done as a family it brings more bonding because of the time shared.
Relationships are very important to humans, reasons why I take my relationships importantly. My immediate family love going out for picnics. We usually have a great and lovely time. I also go out with my friends who are like my family also. This helps to create great bonding with them.
How Can Picnics Be Achieved?
Firstly the family has to agree on a date to go for a picnic. Picnics are done mostly on a field or open area. So it is important to go with a mat, which will be used in sitting out in the open. A lot of games like Scrabble, card games, local games which is of interest to the family, football etc.
Food and drinks are also needed for the picnic. The best time to bond is during a food session. Here the parents and children can talk out on memories while having a great meal.
Everything needed to make the picnic a success should be carried. Families must make sure they are intentional about bonding.
How can Picnics Strengthen Family bonding?
I do have picnics every December which is during the holidays for me. In 2022 December, I went out for a picnic with my friends and it will be one of the best picnic I have gone to. We played cards, sang our favourite music, played table tennis, ate and drank also.
We had the best of times and we created memories. This helped to increase and strengthen our bonding process. We got to know each other better, talked about grievances we had in the past, laughed out loud, danced and forgave each other where we had issues. It was really a great bonding moment.
In December 2023, I went for another picnic with my siblings and mom on her birthday. The location for the picnic was a golf course in Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria. The view and ambience was great. We bought a lot of snacks and drinks. We enjoyed ourselves and made our mom happy and she had a great day with her children all through.
Picnics helps us to smile and laugh, have great time, create memories and this helps to strengthen bonds. Gives the family something to fall back to and equally improves the health of the family, as it brings more happiness to members of the family.
Try out a picnic with your family. Talked to your loved ones in the open, create a time for family outings, It helps to strengthen bonds.

Ahhh. The last picture got me. So you reserved all these to yourself without even calling me? Anyways, picnics are good for family bonding. The excitement and happiness shared can't surpass any other form of interaction. You've nailed some points here and I appreciate your entry in this contest
