Early Grade Mathematics Assessment

Business involves money, and money needs mathematics. It is very important to teach the children in basic arithmetic in her younger age.

The material I am holding is the material for Early Grade Mathematics Assessment. It is done every first month of the school year and every end of the school year. Today, I am assessing the post learning or what they have learned from the whole year. The assessment is done one by one interaction.

The class is divided into two, first day are boys and second days are girls. I need to listen one by one because I am recording directly their answers. Each item is given 1 minute. There are 10 tasks per pupils, so it a total of 10 minutes maximum per pupil.

My rule as a teacher during assessment is to read instructions for her. Then record the result immediately on the laptop and the system will give remarks based on their scores. I need to be patience to each pupil so they can focus on following and answering the assessment.

While the assessment is on going, the other children must keep silent or minimize their voice. They will review the numbers posted on the board for their refresher. They are waiting turns when I call their name.

They have a pre-EGMA assessment on the first day of school year to test what are their prior learning. On the post-assessment, they will be measured how much they know mathematics. It is advantage on my part to realize what are the things need improvement and how can I help her to catch-up.

This assessment is not easy. But the teacher is doing this to see what we can do to help our pupils.
